Hi friends!

I spent last weekend climbing Mount Rainier and it was so incredible. I had zero service for three whole days and was in a group with 7 other people who were also able to take Monday off from work to summit at sunrise. It made me realize (a) how awesome mountaineering is 🙌, and (b) how important it is to me –– to all of us! –– to be able to take long weekends whenever we want or need them.

As someone who truly believes you should love the work you do, I also think it's important that your work allows you to spend time doing all of the other things you love. There are lots of companies on Key Values who value Flexible Work Arrangements and Work/Life Balance, but today I'll highlight just a few...

...including a brand new company, Aula Education! They're 100% globally distributed and yeah, y'all are gonna love learning about them: 😍

Aula Education (profile) 📍 Remote (Global)
No need for relocation support – they're globally distributed!
Aula is a social learning platform built for education. They've built a digital classroom to help universities and colleges engage students better. In April of this year, they ditched their physical office at 50 employees and are now a fully remote company! (Their engineers represent 10 different countries!)

Their employee handbook is public so you can see exactly how they conduct interviews and what their OKRs are. Having flexible work arrangements is a huge priority at Aula, and with 28 days of PTO per year (excluding bank holidays in your country), I'm not surprised they've had zero voluntary attrition on their eng team. 🙌

Change.org (profile) 📍 San Francisco, Paris, or Victoria, BC
Provides relocation support. Sponsors work authorizations.
Change.org is the world’s largest social change platform. Their ~200 employees have built a product that empowers over 150 million people across 196 countries to campaign about anything that moves them. The goal for their organization is to reflect the beautiful and diverse world we inhabit and they've been incredibly deliberate and thoughtful in creating an inclusive workplace for one another.

VSCO (profile) 📍 Oakland, CA
Provides relocation support. Sponsors work authorizations on a case-by-case basis.
VSCO is a mobile creative channel made for creators, by creators. They build creative tools, spaces, and connections to help people fall in love with their own creativity (so if you're an engineer wanting a creative outlet, check 'em out). And even though they're foraying into new spaces from a tech stance, they don’t expect candidates to be familiar with every technology they use. Just be curious!

Sensor Tower (profile) 📍 San Francisco, CA
Provides relocation support. Sponsors work authorizations.
Sensor Tower provides mobile app intelligence to help developers and investors make more informed decisions. Unlike most venture startups, they've grown because their customers find value in their products, aka they're profitable! Their cofounders (one being my husband 😉) want you to work whenever you’re most productive and certainly lead by example by creating their own schedules.

Apto (profile) 📍 San Francisco, CA or Barcelona, Spain
Does not provide location support. Sponsors work authorizations on case-by-case basis.
Apto helps companies launch card programs quickly and confidently (like the first-ever debit card linked to a Bitcoin wallet). They're a results-oriented team (~30 employees) and believe that so long as goals are met, you can work from wherever you want, whenever you want. Everyone has access to Meg, their CEO, and they cherish folks who speak up and have growth mindsets!

Cisco Meraki (profile) 📍 San Francisco, San Jose, Chicago, and London
Provides relocation support. Sponsors work authorizations.
Meraki is the leader in cloud controlled WiFi, routing, and security. They believe good product ideas can come from anywhere, and with 1800+ employees, they have plenty of examples of that. You’ll never be told you can’t make changes to another part of the codebase, and to support career growth, they offer a rotation program within software engineering that lets folks spend time on up to 3 different teams.

There are oodles of companies who are hiring that aren't on Key Values (yet 😏), so if you're looking for a new job or are just starting to browse, check out Hacker News' "Who is Hiring?" thread, which came out today! (That's right, today is August 1st!) Hundreds of companies who are actively hiring will be posting there over the next day or so. 👍

Get some sunshine, stay hydrated, and tell someone you dig their style today!
