Hi friends!
I am so eager to introduce y'all to the newest team to join Key Values! I'm excited because they're a name that you're definitely familiar with, but a company that will certainly surprise you, too. You've all heard of Snap, right?! 👻
One of the easiest traps to fall into when you're looking for new jobs is judging a company too quickly. I know this because it's my literal job to be open-minded and learn all the layers about different companies and I still catch myself making this common mistake. We can dismiss a company based on which industry it falls under ("I don't want to work in fintech") or confuse their validity based on their marketing website ("This doesn't look legit, so they must not be legit"). For larger companies, we can also extrapolate the "personality" of their most well-known product to the company's internal culture.
Tbh, I had no idea how many areas Snap was innovating in before we started working together. They're working on Lenses (to lay augmented reality onto the world around us), Spectacles (sunglasses built for the future of computing), and Pixy (a very cute, pocket-sized drone), just to name a few.
And given Snapchat's young(er) user demographic, I (for some very silly reason) didn't expect them to provide such incredible benefits for parents. Up to $40k for adoption and fertility coverage and $80k for surrogacy reimbursement? Birthing parents have 28 weeks of fully paid time off? Oh, and parents have 120 hours of back-up care per year?! I mean wow. Just wow. 😍
In short, never judge a book by its cover or a company by its product. You'll often be surprised once you actually meet the people behind the curtains, and that's a wonderful feeling.
Here's more about Snap and five other teams who you ought to look deeper into!

Snap (profile) 📍 Santa Monica, Seattle, New York City, or Remote (Global)
Provides relocation support. Sponsor work authorizations.
Snap is one of the most used cameras in the world with over 300 million daily users. While you’re definitely familiar with Snapchat, did you know Snap is a leader in augmented reality? Truthfully, they are way more innovative than I gave them credit for (🙈) not only technologically, but also in terms of creating "The Design Engineer," a dev that has both design and software engineering skills. Between their stellar benefits and developing fingerspelling lenses, I really need y'all to see more.

Indeed (profile) 📍 Remote (Global)
Provides relocation support on a case-by-case basis. Does not sponsor work authorizations.
Indeed helps job seekers find the perfect match. Inclusion is one of their core values and they’re proud to have a team that includes folks with non-traditional backgrounds, parents (they recently partnered with Mother Honestly), LGBTQ+ members, and new grads, to name a few. They have hundreds of open roles and you can learn all about their engineering interview process here ahead of time.

Mode (profile) 📍 Remote (US)
Provides relocation support. Sponsors work authorizations.
Mode is a collaborative data platform that helps teams connect, analyze, and share data. They want people who don’t have data science backgrounds to be able to take advantage of Mode’s insights, too. They spell out all the ways they prioritize diversity and inclusion, and most recently reported that 29% of their engineering team identify as women or non-binary and 24% identify as racially under-represented. 👏

Color (profile) 📍 Remote (US)
Provides relocation support. Sponsors work authorizations.
Color is a healthcare platform that enables public entities to efficiently provide healthcare services to diverse populations. This fall, they’re partnering with Broad Institute to help 600+ universities develop COVID testing programs and mitigation strategies. They've had remarkable growth since the start of the pandemic, a growth that's mirrored by the individuals at the company. You can read more in their profile!

AngelList (profile) 📍 Remote (Global)
May provide relocation support. May sponsor work authorizations.
AngelList Venture is an investment platform that is transforming the way startups raise money. For instance, founders using AngelList Stack can now access a virtual closing environment to close SAFEs. Their diverse team spans the globe, including former founders, parents (roughly 40%), recent grads, PhDs, and folks who are self-taught. (They must have some A+ insights about the VC world right now...)

Airtable (profile) 📍 San Francisco, Mountain View, Austin, New York City, or Seattle
Provides relocation support and sponsors work authorizations on a case-by-case basis.
Airtable is an easy to use spreadsheet-meets-database. They want to democratize software creation so that all walks of life – be it TV producers, architects, or cattle ranchers – find value in their products. Story: one mom recently built an app called Formula Finder using Airtable to help parents track formula sightings during the U.S.'s baby formula shortage. ❤️ (Pst! They have tons of open roles right now!)
