Hi friends!

I am geeked this week. 😍🤓 Not only did I get to meet and chat with several of you (thank you ILYSM!!), but I also published two new team profiles that I'm just dying to tell you about! They're two very different companies, and quite frankly, I would 100% want to interview with both if I was looking for a job right now.

I always preach that who you work with matters more than what you work on, but sometimes those things are intertwined.

In the case of BetterUp, you'll likely find yourself working alongside people who are also passionate about personal growth and development, folks who genuinely care about and prioritize introspection. And if you join Cameo, you'll be building for, connecting others to, and in some cases meeting (!) the most talented people across all spectrums: film, comedy, sports, politics, or even venture capitalism.

All I'm saying is that we, as humans, have a tendency to self-select. But in order to find who and what draws you in, you need to pull back the curtains and take a closer look. It's way too easy to misjudge a company, so if you aren't actively making an effort, you're gonna miss out on real gems.

Don't miss out! 👇

Cameo (profile) 📍 Los Angeles, CA or Chicago, IL
Provides relocation support. Sponsors work authorizations.
Cameo lets you book personalized video shoutouts from your favorite people. They sit at the intersection of Hollywood (entertainment) and Silicon Valley (technology), and with $50M in recent funding, are looking to hire ~20 engineers in the next 6 months. They need to scale to millions of users, build out search and discovery, and improve their UI and video performance as they've started to reach the limits of what React Native can do. Their team, no doubt, knows how to "Make it fun."

BetterUp (profile) 📍 Remote (US)
No need for relocation support – they're remote! Sponsors work authorizations.
BetterUp is a personal and professional development platform. Their approach is heavily rooted in personalized coaching and their internal culture is perfectly aligned with their mission. Everyone at BetterUp gets their own coach along with one additional coach for a friend or family member to use. They also offer a $1,000 personal learning stipend and five “inner work” days each year for their employees to take a step back and reflect. 🙌 Product-driven, remote-first, and definitely hiring.

Airtable (profile) 📍 San Francisco, CA
Provides relocation support. Sponsors work authorizations.
Airtable is a horizontal toolkit for software creation (and something I use every day!). Their engineers are enthusiastic users of Airtable themselves and always write code with longevity in mind. Everyone communicates proactively and they've built a strong written culture as a result –– everything is well-documented. That's why they ask for a writing sample in all of their job applications, which they really do read!

Plastiq (profile) 📍 Boston, MA or San Francisco, CA
Provides relocation support. Sponsors work authorizations.
Plastiq makes it easy for people to pay their rent, taxes, and tuition with credit cards. Internally, they have a strict "no meetings after 12pm" policy and believe continuous delivery to be the hallmark of their engineering culture. Devs can also choose what they work on and change roles/focuses every few months. No wonder the average tenure for an engineer at Plastiq is 3.3 years. 👏

Coffee Meets Bagel (profile) 📍 San Francisco, Seattle, Toronto, or Remote
Provides relocation support. Sponsors work authorizations.
Coffee Meets Bagel is the curated dating service that lets women call the final shot. Their international engineering team make up half of the company and represent countries from around the world. Whether you’re drawn to the application of machine learning or the success stories from their dating platform, everyone at CMB is passionate about helping people fall in love. 💘 (I mean, who doesn't love love?!)

NerdWallet (profile) 📍 San Francisco, CA
Provides relocation support. Sponsors work authorizations.
NerdWallet helps millions of people track spending, reduce debt, improve their credit, and find the best credit cards. When they started, they believed that by helping users make better financial decisions, revenue would follow. And they weren't wrong! They're now a $100M+ profitable business that continues to put their users first and they've built a team of senior devs to help lead their internship program.

To close things out, I want to quickly congratulate Hipcamp and Gusto for their fundraising announcements this week!
  1. Hipcamp raised a $25M Series B
  2. Gusto raised a $200M Series D
  3. And yup, just checked –– they're both hiring 😉
Have the day that you deserve and I will see you all in August!
