Hi y’all,

After more than 2.5 years of this global pandemic, canceling multiple trips around COVID spikes, spending holidays alone, dodging exposures at daycare, calculating risks during two pregnancies, and often being the only ones wearing masks wherever we go, my little family has managed to stay COVID-free…

...until now. 😩

After getting back from Poland, my husband and little one both tested positive for COVID. Somehow I'm still testing negative (so far at least...🤞). It's been a tough week trying to keep as much distance from everyone as possible while also taking care of them, and sheesh –– I don't know how parents work without help or daycare! (Is that even a thing?!)

If there's any indication of how this week has been going: I shamefully slept through my only meeting of the day this morning. [*devastated face palm*] I haaate wasting other people's time, so this hurts me big time. All I can do now is limit how long I allow my negligence to haunt me, remind myself that I am indeed human, and count down the hours until the weekend, right? 😂 TGIF tomorrow for real!

In other news, there's something in the air and lots of folks seems to be resigning and quitting right now. To which I reply, "Good timing!" If you want to find a new job before the end of the year, and before the holiday madness, now is the perfect time. (Now is always the time!)

Here are some great options:

Jane (profile) 📍 Remote (North America)
Provides relocation support. Sponsors work authorizations.
Jane Technologies helps cannabis consumers shop more confidently and provides dispensaries with analytics and advertising services. While their HQ is in Santa Cruz, they have team members across the U.S. and Canada. (And no, compensation is not dependent on location!) I loved this article on how Ashley, their new Head of Marketing, found Jane’s culture empowering as a new mom.

Repeat (profile) 📍 Remote (US)
Does not provide relocation support. May sponsor work authorizations.
Repeat is working to solve customer retention for consumer packaged goods brands, with features like pre-populated carts and a fast checkout experience. While all engineers have a chance to lead a project, they believe in a shared ownership mentality and learning from each other’s code. When you join, you'll likely pair with every engineer on the team at some point! So all you senior full-stack engineers...

Seesaw (profile) 📍 Remote (US)
Provides relocation support and sponsors work authorizations on a case-by-case basis.
Seesaw is an interactive learning platform that brings educators, students, and families together. Devs own features from ideation to launch, and make product decisions with the entire team in the room during weekly check-ins. Since they serve an incredibly diverse population (over 10 million users every month), DEI is top of mind both for the product and as a company. Get your learn on here. 🎒

AngelList (profile) 📍 Remote (Global)
May provide relocation support. May sponsor work authorizations.
AngelList Venture is a startup investment platform. Their products include new ways for VCs to raise money and help startups provide liquidity for employees. They dogfood their own platform and encourage team members to invest themselves (by waiving platform carry fees). If you want to work with future and former founders, and get involved in projects outside the scope of traditional engineering, check 'em out!

Sparrow (profile) 📍 Remote (US)
Provides relocation support. Sponsors work authorizations on a case-by-case basis.
Sparrow helps simplify all types of paid leave with an end-to-end leave management solution. Most of their ~100-person team joined remotely, and have backgrounds ranging from environmental law to massage therapy. You can meet them in their blog, where most recently, (software engineer and former collegiate pole vaulter) Keenan shared his "why" on joining Sparrow and what he looks forward to most.

The Mom Project (profile) 📍 Remote (US)
Does not provide relocation support. Sponsors work authorizations.
The Mom Project (TMP) connects women with career opportunities so they can remain active in the workplace. They recently reached a huge milestone: one million moms use their platform. 🙌 They also launched TMP Reach to provide companies with both highly skilled (94% of TMP talent has a bachelor's degree or higher and 8-12 years of experience) and diverse (50% identify as ethnically diverse) candidates.

Major shoutout to anyone else who has managed to not get COVID yet! I'd feel more cocky about it except I was completely decimated by other viruses this summer, so I am far from invincible. If anything, I'm very vulnerable with my weakened immune system and am just staying lucky. *Thinks positive and healthy thoughts...*

May the only trouble any of you have with breathing be from laughing too hard!
