Library Director's Message

Beginning next month, we will be collaborating with Longwood Gardens for their upcoming Community Read 2022: Listening to Trees program! Three books focused on the beauty of nature, and the necessity of conservation, have been chosen for this event. Both Longwood Gardens and we encourage our patrons to read these books and learn what the trees have to teach us.
Books are not the only thing you can borrow from the Lansdale Public Library. In addition to our collections, we are beginning to build up a Library of Things! We currently offer different projectors for patrons to borrow but wish to know what other devices and equipment we should offer the community. What do you think we should add to our Library of Things?

Early Literacy

This time of year is great to show others that we care. Recently, a patron of the Lansdale Public Library, a teacher, shared with her students a magazine in our collection written in Braille as part of a lesson on Hellen Keller! We are delighted that our patrons share our mission of encouraging early literacy, and we hope all our patrons follow her example!
Want to get your child reading and engaging with their local library? Library cards are available for children ages 5 and up! With our expansive children’s collection, there is no shortage of materials your child can borrow, for both themselves and you, to enjoy!

Lifelong Learning

Kanopy is a video service showcasing more than 30,000 of the world’s best films, including award-winning documentaries, rare and hard-to-find titles, film festival favorites, indie, and classic films, and world cinema! If you have a Lansdale Public Library card, you can sign up for free and enjoy the vast collections of films Kanopy has to offer!
Our weekly Game Night is always looking for new players! Every Tuesday evening at 6:30 pm in-person or 7 pm on Zoom, board game and card game lovers from across the community meet, playing either one of the hundreds of available games or bringing their own. Come to the next Game Night, and bring your A-game! Upcoming Scheule: February 22 at the library | March 1 on Zoom | March 8 at Well Crafted Brewing Company | March 15 on Zoom | March 22 at the library | March 29 on Zoom.

Cultural Diversity

On February 23 at noon, join the Boston Legacy Foundation and special guests to celebrate local hero, Dr. Frank Boston (1890-1960), a WWI veteran and recipient of two U.S. Presidential Citations! This event will be held remotely over Zoom.  Register on Eventbrite or email director@lansdalelibrary.org to get the Zoom link.
The W.D. Palmer Foundation is seeking more signatures for a Petition to Designate Racism as a National Public Health Crisis and Call for a National Dialogue on Racism in America! Now more than ever in our country’s history has this issue been more crucial to discuss, and you can help get the conversation up and running by signing and sharing the Change.org petition and writing a short message of support!
