Come Together for Puerto Rico

Great opportunity for all ages to aid the People of Puerto Rico

Hurricane Maria devastationHurricane Maria hit Puerto Rico on September 20th leaving the Island devastated. More than two months later, areas of the island are still without power, thousands of people have lost their homes, hospitals are struggling to provide adequate service for their patients and many children have yet to be able to go back to school and feel some normalcy. Along with these immediate emergencies are the long term effects this event has had on the island, people have lost their homes, agriculture on the island was completely wiped out. The people of Puerto Rico are working hard but they need our support.

Moments like this call for community. As a community of creative, supportive individuals we can come together to do our part. Join us for an Empty Bowls event at Baltimore Clayworks during the next two weekends.

Come make and decorate a ceramic bowl. We will be using prepared slabs of clay to shape our bowls, along with underglazes to add colors and decoration. This is a family friendly event, all skill levels welcome!

Your hand made bowl will be food and dishwasher safe and go towards our second fund-raising event on January 21st where you may enjoy a meal in one of the beautiful community-made bowls.
All the proceeds from these events will go to Taller Salud in Puerto Rico. This organization is based in Loíza, a town 20 miles east of San Juan, where 48% of its population live under the poverty line. Taller Salud provides services to several towns with low health indicators and impoverished communities.
Please come! All materials and firings are included. Our workshops are Saturday Dec. 2 from 10-2, Sunday Dec. 3 from 1-4pm, Saturday Dec. 9 from 1-4pm, and Sunday Dec. 10 from 11-2pm. Please let us know, so we can prepare all the materials you will need.
