2018 PARTICIPATING MORTUARIES
AND PRICING

The SDMS Board of Directors will review and approve the 2018 participating mortuaries and pricing in November. Watch this newsletter and the SDMS website for the updated list of mortuaries and pricing for 2018. The new pricing and list of mortuaries is effective January 01, 2018.

JUST RECENTLY...

We helped some members who were having an issue with a mortuary that had been purchased by the national mortuary chain, Dignity Memorial, aka Service Corporation International.

Here are the basics:

The mortuaries were sold but kept the local community name.
The SDMS members had purchased pre-paid services when it was an independent mortuary.
The SDMS member was having a hard time getting the Dignity Memorial mortuary to acknowledge the paperwork. They were having a hard time finding all of their receipt/paperwork.
Dignity Memorial was claiming that all prepaid plans had been sent to the national office and they were having trouble obtaining records of the prepaid plan.

SDMS assisted the members in resolving the issues.

We are here for you if you have any issues with a mortuary or their services

Also remember, if you have a complaint about a funeral establishment, crematory, or CA State-regulated cemetery, try to settle it with management first. If you can’t resolve the issue, call the CA Department of Consumer Affairs’ Cemetery and Funeral Bureau at (800) 952-5210 or TDD (800) 326-2297, or (916) 574-7870, and request a complaint form. You can also download a complaint form online at www.cfb.ca.gov/.

SEEKING VOLUNTEERS AND BOARD MEMBERS

If you have some time, talent and interest in serving the SDMS mission we are looking for volunteers.

WE NEED HELP WITH

Setting up flyers in clubhouses, meeting rooms, and offices. Can you help us with this? Please email the office at office@sdmsonline.com or call Andrea at 858-391-1267 and she will send you everything you need to help our the San Diego Memorial Society.
Help staffing a booth at health fairs and community outreach events.
We need a new secretary for our Board, and several other board members to help move this organization forward.

We help dozens of people every month. Help us get the word out!

Can you give?

Sometimes we get asked where our money comes from. About 72% comes from new memberships and the rest from donations. We have no renewal fee like many of the funeral alliances around the country.

We are so much more than "cheap cremation people". We answer questions every day from folks all over San Diego. We are run by an all volunteer board.
