School Advisory Council (SAC) Meeting Recap

Huge thanks to everyone who attended our first SAC Meeting of the year!! If you missed it, a full recap is here. (Sincere apologies that communication re: the meeting link was not great – we’ll do better). One major development was the creation of some new SAC Committees to support our highest priority work.  All these groups are currently seeking members!

  • Diversity, Equity & Inclusion – Help make Adaire a welcoming place for all by developing resources, events, policies, etc.
  • Facilities – Help us find solutions to facilities concerns & engage in the big district-wide planning process that launched last spring.
  • Fun* – This group will work on bringing back all the fun extras that were on the backburner these last few years. Spirit days, family nights, etc. *Name still in the works.
  • Communication/Website – We are getting better, but information can still be hard to track down. Help us improve this, starting with a refresh of the school’s website.
  • Middle School – Focus on developing opportunities specifically for our oldest students. This group will also help with events like 8th grade graduation.
  • After School Programming Working Group – This group will support the launch (and in some cases re-launch) of clubs and other afterschool programs. They will also help realize the goal of on-site aftercare for the 23-24 school year.

Interested in a particular committee? Or just want to know about SAC meetings in the future? Please reach out to AdaireSchoolAdvisoryCouncil@gmail.com so we can connect you.  The next SAC will be Tuesday, October 11th @ 6pm via Zoom. You can register now if you’d like.

Meet Ms. Harrison
Meet Mr. Crosby

My name is Devin Crosby. This is my second-year teaching in the School District of Philadelphia. I am thrilled to join Alexander Adaire School.

I was raised in the Roxborough section of Philadelphia. I am a proud product of the School District of Philadelphia. I attended Cook Wissahickon Elementary School and graduated from Imhotep Charter High School. I received my bachelor’s degree from Shippensburg University.

I have a true passion for working with our youngest learners. Helping each child progress in all areas of development- academically and socially is a challenge that I am honored to accept daily. I strive to create a community of learners. I truly believe that our youth are the future.

I am excited to work alongside administrators, fellow teachers, and parents at Adaire Elementary to provide our students with a well-rounded education inside and outside of the classroom. I look forward to this incredible journey to cultivate a love of learning.
