News from Harvest Workers Coop
Hello Friends,

The times they are a changing and changing! We are continuing to adapt and respond to your needs and the needs of our community. We have loved the ongoing dialogue with you sharing the ups, downs and round and round in circles. We might be meeting you over the counter, on the door step, on the phone or like now in the ether!

We've got some exciting things happening and the wild garlic is already flowering!

Hope to see you soon!

In the Shop
Our shop is still open as normal from 9-5 for customers who are able to come and get their own shopping. We have simple social distancing and hygiene procedures to keep everyone happy and healthy.

We have developed good routines for orders and deliveries. We are delivering and preparing orders for collection for vulnerable people who are self isolating. The wonderful Okehampton COVID-19 Support Group are helping with some deliveries contact them on 07707 565612.

Sara has succeeded in a funding bid to The Princes' Countryside Trust to support deliveries to vulnerable people across a wider geographical area. Do let us know if either you or someone you know would be interested.

More information about ordering and deliveries can be found on our page here

Most importantly please look after yourself and those around you! Eat healthily, sleep well, keep active and your mind alive.

TWO FOOD STORIES

Norseworthy Dairy's Dave and Marilyn keep their herd of goats out towards Crediton. The milk they sell is unpasteurised and is used to make delicious cheeses. COVID-19 has been a challenge as they have lost many of the markets and food fairs.

Harvest is really happy to be still able to sell Norseworthy  produce and help support our local food economy.

Locavore is a Glasgow based  social enterprise "which exists to help build a more sustainable local food system and make the money spent on food do more for the benefit of society and our environment."

Which means we get great quality grocery goods at very reasonable prices appearing on a large pallet outside the shop!

Project News
Community Seed Swap May

We can't gather to exchange seeds in the community event we had planned. But we still want to create the opportunity for people to swap seeds to grow tasty veg. So ... we are having a seed swap May! Bring your spare seeds in an labelled envelope, we will store them for 24 hours to be safe and then add them to swap box. You take some seeds out and plant them! Easy.
The Veg Bag Project
We are working with Okehampton Food Bank  to give easy access to simple, organic, fresh vegetables and fruit to people who need them.
The Veg Bag project is funded by The Harvest Workers Coop, Okehampton Food Bank, Princes Countryside Trust and through donations from Harvest Farm Shop customers.

Thank you for supporting Harvest Workers' Co-op

We are a non-profit workers’ co-operative made up of farmers, educators and storytellers.
We grow and source good organic food for our little farm shop in Okehampton.
We create opportunities for our community to explore all the things food and farming and to
celebrate Good Mood Food!

It would be lovely to see you in the Harvest Farm Shop
Monday - Saturday 9:00 - 5:00 in Red Lion Yard
