The Fair Tax. Illinois residents are being inundated with ads for and against the proposed amendment, which would change the state’s income taxation from a “flat tax” to a “graduated tax.” With Election Day less than two weeks away and Early Voting underway already, many residents still don’t know whom to believe.

The state’s wealthiest residents are putting millions into ads to convince voters that passage for the Fair Tax would be a slippery slope that would hurt working families, small-business owners and seniors. Gov. J.B. Pritzker is pouring millions into ads to persuade voters it is unfair that billionaires pay the same tax rate as regular people.

In a joint effort, Ida’s Legacy and the Independent Voters of Illinois-Independent Precinct Organization are hosting a virtual panel to educate state’s residents on the Fair Tax Amendment. Our interactive “Promote the Vote” panel will be one of the last opportunities for voters to get all of your questions answered about the Fair Tax.
