June 2022

Letter From The Energizer Bunny

"No, thank you.”
"It’s not for my family.”
“We can’t afford it.”
“Do you know how far away we live?”
“My fifth grader doesn’t know Latin.”

These responses and others were in my head when I first heard about Evangel Classical School eleven years ago. I thought the idea sounded good for those that were excited about it, and yet I wanted nothing to do with it for me or my family. Shortly after the doors opened in 2012, some dear friends came over to our house and asked me why our family was not at the school. When I gave my reasons, the wife looked at me and said, “What does Ryan want?” I knew the answer to that question and I didn’t want to answer it. Ryan wanted our family to join the school, and I was not submitting to what he wanted for our family. I was letting fear drive my thinking and submission, rather than resting in God’s leading for our family through what he was putting on Ryan’s heart. After repentance and asking my husband for forgiveness, the Hall family joined the ECS family two weeks after the doors opened in the Fall of 2012.

God has used ECS to change me as a worshipper, wife, mother, sister, teacher and friend. Some of those examples would be:
  • Seeing sin in my daughters and then seeing myself accurately and seeing the same sin in me.
  • Being a worshipper of God, the Maker of Heaven and Earth, affects every area of my life, not just church attendance on Sundays.
  • Sacrificial labors are done daily and have been done daily for almost ten years. It is by God’s grace that for the most part these sacrificial labors have been done joyfully. There is usually a song or laughter coming from a room or part of the building where hard work is being accomplished. I find myself enjoying work at home with my girls while singing and enjoying it.
  • Laughter is war! Ten years ago I wouldn’t have put those words in the same sentence and now it’s something that I remind myself of often.
  • Our children are arrows that are being fit and shaped for battle. How are we shaping them? What are we letting shape them?

In the February Standard Mr. Bowers wrote something that stuck out to me: “I have seen the unconvinced become the convinced, and I have seen the ignorant and skeptical become the greatest proponents.” This was me, I was the unconvinced, ignorant and skeptical. It is only by God’s grace that I am convinced, knowledgeable and optimistic.

My prayer is that God will continue to use ECS to shape and mold us more into the Image of His Son. I want for all of the teachers, parents and board members to carry and advance Christ honoring culture, not just our students.

- Mrs. Hall

Standardized Testing
  • Congratulations to Katie Anderberg, Tatyana Pohli, and Silas Black for being the top testers in the CLT, CLT10, and CLT8 respectively.
  • Results for the CTP-4 testing for Grammar students should be included with Quarter 4 Report Cards.
Yearbooks

The deadline for purchasing a yearbook with free shipping has passed, but you can still order a Yearbook and, for a small fee, have it shipped to your home. Go to www.treering.com and use ECS's code: 1014830721453155.
Yearbooks ordered before the deadline will be distributed the last week of class.

Thank you to all who came and gave generously to the Fundraising Feast! God blessed us with an absolutely beautiful evening full of sweet food and fellowship.

  • We accept almost anything to sell, but please, no electronics.
  • The Sale will run from 9am - 5pm on Friday and Saturday - swing by to see if there is anything you would like!
  • Thank you for your continued support and love for ECS. We truly couldn't ask for better parents or students!
