Feasting is an important Christian discipline. We work it into the calendar a few times each year at Evangel Classical School, as we want for our people (particularly the next generation) to grow in the soil of thankfulness…and thankfulness is what feasting is about. When we feast, we position ourselves to receive with gratefulness the good gifts of God. When we do it on May 13, we’ll enjoy a mountain of goodness: good food, good conversation, good music, good labors of the students, and much more.
It’s true that this event is more about feasting than it is about fundraising. We have a lot to celebrate, and I believe that proper thankfulness manifests itself in a “feasty” orientation. But still, this is the one time of the year when we purpose to make our financial needs known to our circle and invite them to give to the school if they are excited about doing so. We don’t want anyone to go into this evening under false pretenses (hence the “Fundraising” part of the event’s name), and neither do we want for them to feel any pressure from us.
All of the collected donations this year go toward the imminent purchase of a building and associated move-in costs. It’s hard to express how excited I am to type that sentence, after ten glorious years of waiting.
The Fundraising Feast is a party, and it should feel like it. It’s one of my favorite nights of the year, as I’m slapped in the face with how God is actively blessing ECS. You all are a huge part of that, and I hope you’ll join us. Here are some details:
Notes: The dinner is for adults. All of the students will sing; some will be serving in additional capacities. After the students perform, they will enjoy some supervised activities and dinner outside at the Farm. No childcare will available for younger children or siblings.
To be clear, we are expecting all of the Raggants to be there (in their Event Uniform), unless we hear from you otherwise. If your child cannot be there to sing, please notify Mrs. Sarr. Otherwise, if you know someone who would be interested in the work we’re doing at ECS, please pass along this invitation. Seating is limited to the first 250 who RSVP with Mrs. Blake.
Finally, if you RSVP and then your plans change, we understand, but please let us know so we can give your spot to someone else. We’d love to have a full house.
