What’s in the New COVID Relief Law for Nonprofits?

The Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2021 (the “2021 COVID Relief Act”) was signed into law on December 27, 2020. See a summary sheet of Nonprofit Provisions here or attend a January 13 virtual Nonprofit Town Hall briefing hosted by the National Council of Nonprofits to learn which provisions can help your nonprofit. 

PPP re-opens this week for new borrowers and certain existing PPP borrowers

Last week, the SBA released new application forms for organizations seeking PPP loans – both First Draw (Form 2483) and Second Draw (Form 2483 SD) loans. Second Draw loan processing will start on Wed. Jan. 13 for some lenders. Most lenders, however, will not be able to process loan applications for a few more days. Read more

GOFERR Reporting Reminder

Many of the programs established by GOFERR using Cares Act funds, such as the Nonprofit Emergency Relief Fund (NERF), have reports due in the next few weeks. IRS Standard Mileage Rate
The mileage rate for business expense deductions for 2021 is 56 cents per mile, a decrease from the 57.5 cents per mile rate used for 2020, the IRS announced at the end of last year. The standard mileage rate for determining deductions for volunteers using their vehicles for charitable purposes remains at 14 cents because that rate is fixed in statute.  Read more
