Update on OPBC Research Projects

OPBC-02/PREPEC
Sponsor-Investigator: Walter Weber (University Hospital Basel, Switzerland)

Thanks to the commitment of all 26 sites, 383 patients were recruited within 30 months, despite all challenges, including the pandemic.

The first sub-project analysis will be carried out in Q3/2023. The data cleaning requests are being sent out these days. Follow-up of patients for at least 24 months after surgery is essential to ensure assessment of the primary endpoint (a quality of life endpoint). Further sub-project analyses will follow.

OPBC-03/TAXIS
Sponsor-Investigator: Walter Weber (University Hospital Basel, Switzerland)

We have now enrolled 700 out of 1500 patients in 23 sites in Switzerland, 1 in Hungary, 8 in Austria, 5 in Germany and 1 in Lithuania. Five additional sites have been opened in the last three months in Argentina, Croatia and Greece, with more to follow soon in Korea, Argentina, Brazil, Canada, US, UK, Qatar, Italy and Croatia.

Thorsten Kuehn and Florentia Peintinger of the European Breast Cancer Research Association of Surgical Trialists (EUBREAST), together with the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS-Multidisciplinary Joint Committee Breast Care) aim to evaluate the training of breast care specialists across Europe and abroad. One representer per discipline per center is invited to fill the form. The survey will be open until April 25, 2023, with 312 responses already submitted.

The OPBC strongly supports this EUBREAST project and we would appreciate your participation in this survey.
