Make a Big, Bold, Modern Quilt

with Nicole Neblett!
Nicole Neblett, a Quilt Con 2019 instructor, is coming to Blue Bar Quilts on May 5! Nicole will teach the same workshop she presented at QuiltCon, How to Make a Big, Bold, Modern Quilt.

In this class students will practice designing and constructing a large-scale quilt top using modern design elements and principles. Using an idea for a large-scale quilt, students will make it a reality using either traditional piecing techniques or freezer-paper techniques. Tips will be learned for selecting fabrics and color schemes, working with large pieces of fabric, and deciding on quilting options for negative space. Participants will leave the workshop with the beginnings of a big, bold modern quilt! Register here.

Reduce, Reuse, or Just Don't Use.

Our efforts to reduce single-use plastic shopping bag consumption has been a big success! We are proud and happy to report that since August, you’ve helped reduce plastic use by refusing more than 3,000 bags at checkout! Together our Blue Bar Quilts community continues to play a role in reducing plastic waste pollution and its environmental impact. Thank you to all customers who elect to use their own shopping bag or who refuse a new one at checkout.

The March winner of our monthly drawing to promote reduction of plastic bag waste is Lori Cushman! Lori has won a 4 Fat Quarter Gift Card.

The Weaving Connection with Maday

Instructors: Maday Delgado

Saturday, April 20

Weaving as a sustainable practice can be rewarding and fun; meditation in the act of making. The woven cloth can be used in practical or decorative application and you can always count on weaving becoming a part of your artistic self-expression. In this workshop, we explore weaving with typical and atypical fibers to create textures and interest in your work. My hope is that you will want to include bits of denim which will be provided by Maday. You will be rewarded with a fabric swatch completed entirely by you using a high quality loom by Purl & Loop that you will take home to use again & again. All supplies are included but feel free to bring bits of fiber; yarn, etc. from your own stash to include if you desire.
