Tree New Mexico June 2017 Newsletter

Greetings Fellow Tree Lovers!!!
Tree New Mexico is getting back in the swing of things again!  We are revisiting our website and testing our email lists etc.  We appreciate your patience as we continue to work to update and improve our communications.
Looks like this summer’s hot weather is in full swing! Please ensure you are doing a deep watering of your trees at least once a week! Save on water and cool your tree roots by adding a fresh layer of mulch – less stress on the tree.  For further information on recommended trees to plant in our area, check out our website at:
UPDATE:  Summer 2017 - Tree New Mexico, in partnership with Councilor Benton and the City of Albuquerque, has launched the ABQ NeighborWoods program!
  - ABQ NeighborWoods is a partnership between the City, the US Forest Service, New Mexico State Forestry, Tree New Mexico, local tree growers, neighborhood leaders, and local landscape architects to enhance our urban forest.  The ‘Healthy Trees Healthy People’ study of Albuquerque showed that we have one of the largest tree canopy losses in the country.  With 85% of Albuquerque’s trees located on private property and on business sites, the connection to homeowners is vital for enhancing and growing our urban forest.
-  We just completed our first ABQ NeighborWoods project in the Wells Park Neighborhood planting over 200 trees! If your neighborhood would like to be considered for the program, please contact your city councilor and tell them about the ABQ NeighborWoods program and the success at Wells Park!!

Have a great summer!
