As universal as the goals of clean air, clean water, and a healthy planet and population may seem, gaining on-the-ground buy-in can be challenging. Complex scientific, public health, environmental, and economic reasoning behind environmental initiatives must be translated and tailored to be meaningful and powerful to a specific community or citizen. Likewise, the communicator must understand the specific needs and challenges of that community or citizen to craft a message and information that resonates, and bridge the gap between a big goal and the reality of achieving it. Climable.org is actively building those critical bridges in communities across Massachusetts. I am proud to be part of an organization that proactively takes on this urgent challenge to facilitate real and positive change.
