|What an exciting time for the GMChorale!
With Joseph D’Eugenio on the podium, weeks of diligent (and joyful!) rehearsing culminated in a memorable concert last Sunday, November 12, “ Where the Earth Meets the Sky.”
As lovely melodies and gorgeous harmonies tumbled off the stage, those present enjoyed the gift of live music, prepared with care and delivered with passion. Here are just a few of the responses we heard:
"Look at the World literally brought tears to my eyes."
"The Shaker Songs were just stunning."
"The students' faces said it all - they were beaming."
Thanks to the generous support of you, our listeners and donors, all of us can enjoy remarkable musical moments like these in our region year after year.
The GMChorale is especially grateful for your support of our new Mentorship Initiative, a program that honors Joe’s 20th season as Artistic Director by enriching and supporting the development of young amateur and professional musicians. The November 12 concert featured some of these initiatives:
- The talented singers of Middletown High School's Advanced Choir sang with the GMChorale in three selections.
- Young musicians from E.O. Smith High School and Southern Connecticut State University accompanied the singers of the GMChorale with flute and percussion.
- Alchemy, the GMChorale’s new vocal chamber ensemble, added the voices of emerging and seasoned professional soloists, music educators, and university music students to our musical fabric.
The GMChorale's emphasis on "Singing for a Lifetime" was made manifest in this concert, where singers from 13 to 80 years old joined their voices to create a truly memorable experience for everyone present, both on the stage and in the audience.
Thank you so much for your engagement with the GMChorale and for everything you do to help us keep choral music alive and vital in Connecticut and New England!
With warm wishes and appreciation,
