Gardening club and school community

Mrs Haslam sent us this advert for free training sessions looking at setting up a community growing scheme led by The Food Futures Network. The sessions are based around Lancaster. She has signed up up for lots of the courses but wondered if it might be of interest to any parents. The courses are all free.

School Meal Bills and Out of School Club - All parents

Please ensure all outstanding amounts are brought up to date on ParentPay asap. To close the end of year off (and to enable Mrs Waddington to get things as straight as she can before she leaves!) I need all accounts to be at £0.
If you have any problems paying your bills, please come and speak to us.
This is particularly important for Year 6 parents as once children leave the school your account becomes inactive and you will no longer be able to pay online, we will need to bill you manually and if that can be avoided that would be very much appreciated!

Robin and The Sherwood Hoodies

Some photos from our fantastic production this week! Thank you to all of you for coming and supporting the children. Also to our fantastic PTFA for the refreshments.

Mr Warriner has sent out this term's bills, please make sure you have received it and any problems, his email is below.

In the classroom this week!

This week in Puffin class we have loved reading the Snail and the Whale by Julia Donaldson. We have created our own maps that the snail and the whale went on around the world. We then designed a treasure map which we create outside. The Reception children enjoyed their move up morning up into Year 1 with Mrs James exploring the classroom, painting self portraits and reading a story. In P.E we enjoyed a multi skills lesson on the field with Mr Fletcher where we play dodgeball! On Friday the Puffins loved beach day and we had lots of fun! Well done for another brilliant week!
Mr Muckalt, Mrs Muckalt's husband is running the Great North Run in aid of Unique Kidz, an amazing charity based in Morecambe.
If you would like to support this great cause, you can donate to his GNR Fundraising page using the link below.
This week we have been writing lovely poems called "What I Found at the Seaside". Below is the poem we wrote together as a class.
What I Found at the Seaside
crabs nipping
feet slipping
waves splashing
fish dashing
waves tumbling
sandcastles crumbling
shells shimmering
sea glimmering
people swimming
me grinning!
by Year 2 Robins
We have also been reflecting on our year and sharing our favourite memories. The Year 2 children have achieved an awful lot in their first full year at school and should be very proud of themselves!
On Monday we enjoyed moving up to our new classes. Mrs Burgess enjoyed having her new Year 3's and Mrs Whitaker had lots of fun with the new Year 2s! On Tuesday we had a lovely visit to the church with Mr McIlveen. He showed us around the church and shared his wealth of knowledge with us. The children learnt all about the history of the church and some even had a go at playing the organ! We would like to send a huge thank you to Mr McIlveen for giving up his time for us. On Tuesday and Wednesday the Robins supported KS2 in their play by singing their hearts out! They sang brilliantly and were super stars sitting out in the sunshine for such a long time! Well done Robins!
Next week we will be celebrating all that we have achieved this year and we will begin sending home this years school work. Please send in a strong bag for the children to collect their things.
We have had a fabulous week in Kingfisher Class!
This week we have thoroughly enjoyed performing our play, Robin and The Sherwood Hoodies for you all, the excitement backstage was brilliant!
On Thursday we travelled to Salt Ayre to our big sports day and had a great time with Mr McQuillan trying out lots of different sports with other local schools.

Gold team (pictured) came fourth out of seven. But extra excitingly, the two guys running the gold gave out a special award for teamwork after observing everyone all day and Arkholme won!!
What a brilliant week we've had in Owls class this week. The Year 6s enjoyed their time getting to know their new form teachers and other children at QES on Monday morning, while I welcomed some new Owls into class and got to know them a bit better.
Then we had three outstanding performances of the summer play, Robin and the Sherwood Hoodies, on Tuesday and Wednesday. The children were truly amazing and should be very proud of the hard work they put into this. Thank you to those who came along to watch, I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.
On Thursday, we took part in a Sports Day at Salt Ayre with lots of other schools where we did activities like Quad Athletics, Golf and Korfball. The children really enjoyed these and had fun competing against other schools. They represented the school brilliantly.
On Friday morning, we had a great time at our "Beach Day". The children particularly enjoyed the water fight area which I was keen to avoid after the summer fair! On Friday afternoon, we finished off our portraits and then created some art inspired by Rex Ray.
