In the classroom this week!

Well Puffins we've just completed our first half term together as a class.  have all settled in brilliantly, we are very proud of how each and every one of you have worked so hard in your learning.

This week we've enjoyed the story Handa's Surprise. We have retold and ordered the story and made fruit kebabs linked to our maths learning on repeating patterns. In phonics we've learnt some more sounds and you'll have some books to practise blending with these sounds in the holidays.

Have a super half term and a well deserved rest ready for a busy Christmas half term ahead!

Team Puffin
We made it to half term and what a busy one it has been!  This week we have 'showing off' our writing skills and Mrs Whitaker and Mrs James are very proud of how hard the children have worked!  We received a letter from Percy the Park Keeper asking for our advise and help. The children all wrote him a letter and gave some excellent advise! In maths year 1 have been comparing numbers. It was particularly tricky but we enjoyed getting outside and making the greater than and less than symbols using sticks and pine cones. Year 2 have also been comparing numbers, as well as putting numbers on a number line to 100! Mrs Whitaker thought it was very hard but year 2 whizzed through it!
On Monday we made paper!  was very messy but fun. Sadly it is still not quite dry, but should be after half term for you to see!  In PE we practised our kicking skills and demonstrated all of the skills we have learnt this term. In RE we learnt about the Dead Sea Scrolls and created our own scrolls with rules for living on them.
We have had a great half term, and we are very proud of how all of the Robins have worked this half term. They deserve a wonderful restful holiday! Happy Half Term!

Hayley Whitaker

It has been a terrific end to our first half-term in Kingfisher Class. The children have worked hard to complete units of work. They have made great progress in their learning as well as being kind and supportive classmates.
In English this week, the children have completed their work on A.A. Milne's poem, The Old Sailor. They have practised the skill of inference and used dictionaries to find the definitions of new vocabulary. In maths, they have finished their work on place value and are looking forward to moving onto addition and subtraction after half-term. Please encourage the children to keep practising their times tables number facts during the half-term break. Playing regularly in the Garage area of TT Rock Stars is an excellent way to maintain a quick and accurate recall of the times tables number facts in the holidays.
In PE and games, the children have finished their work on throwing and catching skills and rugby. Both units of work have been delivered by external specialists who have commended the children for their progress and their hard work. Many Kingfishers have really shone during these lessons which has been wonderful to witness.
On Monday, we enjoyed walking down to church in the autumn sunshine for our harvest festival. The children sang their song brilliantly and it was lovely to back in church again. We have received a message from Morecambe Foodbank, who are very grateful for the generous gifts that you have contributed to their store cupboards.
Have a fun-filled holiday everyone.

Mrs Burgess.

In Owls this week we have had alot of fun.  In Art we have been designing our cities, which we have then been writing about in English.  In Science we are learning about fossils and evolutions.

After half term we look forward to seeing Mr Pedder again.

Every Friday we hold a whole school WOW worship.  We celebrate good work in school each week.

There are 3 categories:

Golden Book - this is to reward children who have worked hard, produced some great work or improved a great deal.

Celebrates Christian Values - this celebrates kindness, friendship, perserverance, respect, love or anyone of our Christian Values

We Need YOU!

The PTFA need more people to help organise events. You are all already part of the PTFA just by being at the school and so please get involved in what we do to create fun events for everybody as well as raise funds for various projects.  At the upcoming AGM we need a new PTFA Secretary, and we could also do with people to take on overseeing other events, like Summer Fair co-ordinators, Secret Santa secret agents, a Socials secretary etc. just so that it doesn’t fall to one or two people. Every event needs a team behind it, so please come and be a part of it. Grab Claire or Elle in the playground to find out more.

Christmas Fair - change of date!

Please note we have a changed the date for our Christmas Fair from Friday 9th December to Friday 2nd December 2022.  Thank you!
Please note this Rugby Half Term Camp is for Years 3 - 6.
