STH Beach Day

Friday 15th July is Beach day in our Arkholme Spread The Happiness Calendar. We are therefore going to have a seaside themed morning. Children should come in something they are happy to get wet, with a change of clothes.
Children will not have to get wet, we will have clearly marked areas which are wet and dry so children can choose where to be but it would be useful if all children brought a change of clothes.
Children can bring a bucket and sponge, but please NO water pistols/supersoakers.

School Meal Bills and Out of School Club - All parents

Please ensure all outstanding amounts are brought up to date on ParentPay asap. To close the end of year off (and to enable Mrs Waddington to get things as straight as she can before she leaves!) I need all accounts to be at £0.
If you have any problems paying your bills, please come and speak to us.
This is particularly important for Year 6 parents as once children leave the school your account becomes inactive and you will no longer be able to pay online, we will need to bill you manually and if that can be avoided that would be very much appreciated!

Robin and The Sherwood Hoodies

Rehearsals for our Key Stage 2 summer production are well under way and we can't wait for you to come and watch, today's dress rehearsal was great!
There will be three performances so plenty of chance for everyone to come and watch.
The dates are
Tuesday 12th July 2pm and 6pm
Wednesday13th July 2pm

Tickets can be purchased via ParentPay at £2 each.
Any outstanding tickets will be sent home in book bags on Monday.

The PTFA will be selling refreshments at each show

In the classroom this week!

Another super week in Puffins. In maths we've been looking at patterns and in literacy we've enjoyed learning about keeping our oceans clean. Thank you everyone who came to watch our class worship we hope you enjoyed it.
In PE we've been practicing our jumping , running and rolling skills. In phonics we've been busy recapping all the sounds we have learnt to try to apply it in our reading and writing.
We hope you all enjoyed the Puffin Cafe this afternoon and having the chance to look around the classroom and all the displays the children have created.
Wow, I've no idea how we only have 2 weeks left together as Puffin class - time flies when you're having fun and we certainly have a lot of fun in our learning in Puffin Class.
Have a great weekend everyone !
Mr Muckalt, Mrs Muckalt's husband is running the Great North Run in aid of Unique Kidz, an amazing charity based in Morecambe.
If you would like to support this great cause, you can donate to his GNR Fundraising page using the link below.
Year 2 have been learning some lovely seaside poems this week We have been reading them, learning them and looking at the language features. We really enjoyed 'Cream Curdled Oceans' by Violet MacDonald as it described the seaside as delicious foods! In maths we have been learning about tally charts and pictograms. We had fund generating our own questions and compiling tally charts of responses. We then turned them into pictograms. It might be almost the end of term, but we are still working hard!!
Robins have been putting their art skills to work this week. We have built on what we learnt about the horizon and have added elements of texture to our paintings, using lentils, tinfoil and tissue paper.  On Wednesday we had a great afternoon doing PE with Mr Fletcher. In RE we have continued to learn about special places. We learnt about Moses and the tabernacle, and then went outside to our own special place, the willow dome, to write prayers. Next week on Tuesday we will be going to visit the church as part of our topic. We already have your permission for church visits, but it would be helpful if they children had coats/suncream/caps, depending on the weather.
We have had a fabulous week in Kingfisher Class!
Excitement about next week's production has continued to build, and everyone loved trying on their costumes and seeing their props today! Mrs Wheatley was in school on Thursday to help make some of the larger staging and Some Kingfishers could barely contain their excitement! The sight of Mrs Wheatley herself was exciting enough and 'The Squisher,' being built outside our classroom, almost tipped them over the edge!
On Tuesday, some of our class represented Heysham at the Lancashire School Games in Blackpool and those of us that stayed in school spent a wonderful afternoon creating mixed media mountain landscape pictures.
On Thursday morning, we all went to see Gaia at the Lancaster Priory. It was stunning to see such an incredible exhibition. As the earth span above our heads, we thought about our own responsibility to care for and protect the natural world. Respecting God's World will be the theme of our class worship on Thursday, and we look forward to seeing you there!
Have a wonderful weekend everyone,
Mrs Burgess and Mr Mackinnon.
Great week in Owls this week. Lots of play practice again ending with a dress rehearsal performed in front of the rest of the school on Friday. The children were excellent and the costumes and set look awesome so a lot to look forward to in the live performances next week.
In English, the children enjoyed carrying on with their non-chronological reports on London landmarks and in Maths they continued their Geometry units finding missing angles and also recapping different types of triangles and the facts about them.
On Thursday, we went to see "Gaia" at Lancaster Priory which is an incredible piece of artwork. It gave a great opportunity to discuss Geography and also reflect on our world. The children loved exploring the Priory too.
On Friday afternoon, we practiced using different pencils to shade and add light and dark when creating our self-portraits.
Have a great weekend everyone!

As a guide around 10 servings per donation is a good amount for these cake sales. The cakes will be sold at the end of the school day.
