I look forward to seeing you on Sunday as we continue the Sermon Series, "Words from the Cross". We will focus in worship on Jesus' statement in John 19:28-30, "I Thirst";..."Later, knowing that everything had now been finished, and so that Scripture would be fulfilled, Jesus said, “I am thirsty.” 29 A jar of wine vinegar was there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put the sponge on a stalk of the hyssop plant, and lifted it to Jesus’ lips. 30 When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit." John 19:28-30".
Jesus is saying much more here than I want a drink of water! Sunday, we will discuss what he is saying to us and how we can apply it to our spiritual lives.
Saturday is Live, Love, Laugh at 10 a.m. in the Sanctuary! This is an United Methodist Women sponsored event for ladies and girls followed by lunch in the Cabe Center. At least 150 women and girls will be attending. Please help to make our guest welcome in every way you are able and attending!
On a personal note, thank you for your words of affirmation and your prayers in the death of my last grandparent, Mrs. Charlie Mae Jackson of Little Rock. Grandma passed away on Wednesday (which was my father's birthday) and I will be officiating at her service which is tomorrow morning in North Little Rock. The process of dying was long for her, so there is much sorrowful rejoicing that she is at peace. Grandma and Grandpa Jackson were married for 76 years, before his death in 2016. Grandma would have been 99 in May. When I was in seminary, Grandma Jackson sacrificially gave the amount of her social security check to me monthly to help pay for my education for three years. She was a faithful believer in Jesus our Savior, an active church member all her life, and was a advocate of both local and foreign missions. My family and I appreciate you all greatly.
There are currently six youth involved in Confirmation classes. Confirmation for 6th and 7th graders and any youth who would like to attend will be Sundays from 4:30
