A prominent group of exiled Iranians and human rights activists called on the west to do more to help people protesting Iran’s repressive regime. Demonstrations started over a month ago in response to the death of 22 year-old Mahsa Amini in the custody of the country’s morality police. They have since spread across the country in what is seen as the most serious challenge to Iranian authorities in decades.

Iranian schoolgirls and young women have been leading the movement—burning their headscarves, chanting “Woman, life, freedom”, documenting police violence against protesters, and putting their lives on the line. Three of them shared their thoughts with the BBC.

Sign this petition calling on the international community to hold Iranian authorities accountable for their deadly crackdown on protesters. Then share this video, or another link in this newsletter, to raise awareness and support the fight for freedom in Iran.
