Blyth Juniors take over the Parkrun!
This week we had a bumper attendance at the Blyth Links Parkrun, with a huge number of our juniors using it as part of their training schedule. There were new PB's, and first time appearances, with the endurance squad showing how far they've come in recent years. Lauren was 2nd lady home, with PB's for Jamie and Olivia, and Niamh, James, Daniel and William all putting in strong runs. Meanwhile, Evan Falkous enjoyed from Parkrun tourism at the Talking Tarn!

Last weekend, Jamie Floyd represented Blyth at the Terry O'Gara junior run, finishing a fantastic 7th in 6:34.

NEYDL - Time for a festival of Athletics!

So we are just 1 week away from the start of the NEYDL season. For those who have not been involved before, this will provide a wonderful track and field development opportunity. Its a chance to test ourselves at our preferred events, and perhaps try something new as well. We encourage athletes and parents to attend for the whole day to support the team if possible. We are only a small club (even combined with our Alnwick team-mates), but what we lack in numbers we always make up for in terms of quality performances, team spirit and creating a fantastic atmosphere.

So let get our green and white facepaint on, cheer on every performance, and make it an amazing start to the season! there is still time to get involved, just contact any coaches to find out how to get involved. All details at
We would love to have more info to report on in the newsletter, so please send any news, photos, stories or reports in to Dan by 4pm Sunday so it goes in newsletter. Also for events like parkruns please make sure your club is up-to-date on profile so we can make sure you are not missed.

Athletics can only run thanks to the support of volunteers. One thing we are desperately short of is FIELD OFFICIALS. These are volunteers who can help run field events at T&F comps, in particular the NEYDL. As a participating club, we are required by the rules to provided qualified officials at NEYDL events, something we have struggled to do last year. This year, if we are unable to fulfill our obligation to provide officials, we will not only lose points, but also we will be limited in the numbers of athletes we can enter into field events. This is something that we cannot allow to happen.

If you wish to consider starting on the officiating  journey, then please know that you will have the full support of the club and all fees will be paid in full by the club. Officials receive expenses, and have opportunities to progress if the ambition is there. Officials from Blyth have recently been in action at World-Class Diamond League events, and will testify that it is the most rewarding experience.
