North East Grand Prix: Report
Our team of juniors were greeted by favourable conditions on Wednesday night at the 4th North East Grand Prix of the season, and they delivered yet more superb results.

Emily Bond lowered her own club record in the 75m hurdles to 12.21s, with Senna Gorvett just behind in 2nd place. In the 200m, Caitlin Creaby smashed her PB with a fine run of 31.07s, whilst Abigail Huntly ran the fastest time by an U13 in the North East this year with 29.02s. Hannah Wilson produced another fine display with 26.61 to finish as fastest U15, before Luke Pichler smashed his PB with a time of 25.55s.

In the 800m Frankie Foster took a storming win in the 1st heat with a PB time of 2:40.27, with Luke Stewart just outside his PB in the same heat. Next up was Niamh Adams and she produced a mature and superbly paced run to take a massive victory and big new personal best of 2:40.70, earning her first AAA badge.

In the shot put Hannah Wilson and Emily Bond both set new PB's, with Luke and Oscar Pichle just outside their best. Senna and Frankie both competed will  in the long jump, whilst Abigail Huntly launched the javelin out to 17.21m on her debut with the spear.

Forthcoming Events
There are loads of competitions coming up throughout the summer. Just ask any of the coaches for details, or click this link to find out more.

We are very aware that there has been a real lack of opportunity to for U11's and less experienced athletes to experience competition and events this summer, as restrictions due to covid continue.
We are planning to put on an informal club event on SUNDAY 25TH JULY early afternoon, hopefully at the track at Churchill Playing Fields. This will give ALL our juniors the chance to gain competition experience and have fun.
As soon as i get approval that we can proceed, I will publish full details. In the meantime, please save the date, and we will need a team of 10 volunteers to help run the event.
Being part of Team Blyth can be so much more than just coming to training and doing competitions - we really want to develop well-rounded young people that are confident and willing to get involved in all aspects of the sport they love.
The first step on the coaching pathway, and a fantastic qualification for any young person to have is the "Leading Athletics" course offered by England Athletics. Its open to anyone aged 14+, and the club will pay course fees. Its all online/remote - so why not get signed up?

A huge thanks to Michael McKenna for setting this up, and Ross Pichler for the graphic design.

Please double check the sizes as nothing can be returned with them having logos and possibly initials on too. If it doesn’t state men’s or women’s on a particular item, it will be based on male sizing so girls might need to go down a size.
We have an upgraded website. www.teamblyth.com. Watch out for exciting additions in the coming months, including an athlete portal!
