Reports from the Jubilee weekend, including intercounties!
Its been a busy and exciting Jubilee weekend, with many of our juniors in action on the track and on the roads.

On Thursday, Sadie, Hannah and Millie travelled down to York to represent the North East Counties at the Northern Athletics Intercounties Championships. The girls helped the North East to an incredible 2nd place overall, against all of the other Northern counties. The highlight was without doubt the 4x100m, where the 3 girls teamed up with a Gateshead athlete to take 2nd place with 50.24s, one of the fastest times in the UK this year. Individually, Sadie took 1st in hurdles and 2nd in long jump, with Hannah 2nd in the 200m and Millie 5th over 100m.

Closer to home and Niamh Adams was fastest lady in the DK mile, nearly breaking the 6m barrier for the first time. Jack Ellis and Katelyn Hall also produced superb runs on this jubilee special. It was another busy weekend at the regions parkruns, with Frankie, Liliana, Aelxander, Jack, Jamie, Daniel, William, Grace and Jack all running. There were lots of fantastic resutls and several PB's - check the results below.

IMPORTANT - Due to refurbishment, we have NO access to clubhouse (inc toilets) at Churchill track for a period of around 6 weeks.
We have a supply of AAA Badges and Certificates. Find out more about the scheme and the standards HERE

If you have achieved a standard (must be a legal performance on power of 10), you are entitled to a badge. Athletes will receive their first badge FREE. Thereafter, they cost £4.50 each, contact Dan if you wish to purchase one.
Athletics can only run thanks to the support of volunteers. One thing we are desperately short of is FIELD OFFICIALS. These are volunteers who can help run field events at T&F comps, in particular the NEYDL. As a participating club, we are required by the rules to provided qualified officials at NEYDL events, something we have struggled to do last year. This year, if we are unable to fulfill our obligation to provide officials, we will not only lose points, but also we will be limited in the numbers of athletes we can enter into field events. This is something that we cannot allow to happen.

If you wish to consider starting on the officiating  journey, then please know that you will have the full support of the club and all fees will be paid in full by the club. Officials receive expenses, and have opportunities to progress if the ambition is there. Officials from Blyth have recently been in action at World-Class Diamond League events, and will testify that it is the most rewarding experience.
