Its been a fantastically busy and succesful wekend for Team Blyth, we our juniors doing themselves proud throughout. On Saturday, the rescheduled junior Great North Run took place on the Quayside, with 9 of our juniors in action.

Niamh Adams was a fine 5th in her race, whilst Evan ran a speedy 17:23. Mairi-Louise ran 21:00, with training partner Alexander recording a time of 20:05. Richard and Luke Gormley both put in great runs, whilst Jamie Floyd recorded a fantastic 16:49. Harry Norvell completed his race in 18:52, with Luke Stewart finishing in 17:15

On Sunday afternoon, Blyth hosted the Harrier League XC at Druridge Bay in fine conditions, and our juniors delivered fantastic results. In the U15 girls race Niamh Adams finished a superb 3rd, whilst Lauren recorded one of the fastest times of the day running from the fast pack. Luke was 44th in the U15 boys race, whilst our U13 boys both finished well up the order, with Frankie running from the fast pack to finish 16th, with George Bryce taking 13th place. This year our athletes have earned 77 AAA awards, a huge increase on last year! This is testament to all your hard work. To find out more about the AAA scheme and badges, check out the link further below.
We have a supply of AAA Badges and Certificates. Find out more about the scheme and the standards HERE

If you have achieved a standard (must be a legal performance on power of 10), you are entitled to a badge. Athletes will receive their first badge FREE. Thereafter, they cost £4.50 each, contact Dan if you wish to purchase one.
Athletics can only run thanks to the support of volunteers. One thing we are desperately short of is FIELD OFFICIALS. These are volunteers who can help run field events at T&F comps, in particular the NEYDL. As a participating club, we are required by the rules to provided qualified officials at NEYDL events, something we have struggled to do last year. This year, if we are unable to fulfill our obligation to provide officials, we will not only lose points, but also we will be limited in the numbers of athletes we can enter into field events. This is something that we cannot allow to happen.

If you wish to consider starting on the officiating  journey, then please know that you will have the full support of the club and all fees will be paid in full by the club. Officials receive expenses, and have opportunities to progress if the ambition is there. Officials from Blyth have recently been in action at World-Class Diamond League events, and will testify that it is the most rewarding experience.
