Report from Harrier League XC as fab four star!
XC season is now truly upon us, and the Harrier League season kicked off at Wrekenton with four of our junior taking part.

Niamh Adams has been training hard ahead of the XC season and started her season in great style with an 11th place finish. Lauren Creaby is coming off a fine track season, and showed great form as she ran from the fast pack, to record the 2nd fastest time overall.

Two of our boys were in action, with Jamie Floyd (U13) and Luke Stewart (U15) putting in competitive runs. It was great to see these four athletes out giving it their all, and we'd love to have more taking part in XC. Just ask coaches for details.

On Wednesday, Niamh Adams finished her summer cup campaign in fine style, as she raced against our senior athletes. She fnished 17th out of 69 in the handicapped race, recording the 10th fastest time of all.

It was a great weekend at our local junior parkruns. At South Beach, Richard Gormley took 1st place just ahead of Oliver with a PB. Grace also scored a fantastic PB time. At the Whitley Bay event, Liliana took a brilliant 6th place, just ahead of Elliot in 8th as both were well under 10 minutes. Meanwhile, Martha finished in a fine 24th in 10:28.

We have started compiling fixtures as you can see further down the newsletter. More info and entry details will follow in the weeks and months ahead - watch this space! We have also set a provisional date of 27th November for our celebration night, again, more details to follow soon.
We would love to have more info to report on in the newsletter, so please send any news, photos, stories or reports in to Dan by 4pm Sunday so it goes in newsletter. Also for events like parkruns please make sure your club is up-to-date on profile so we can make sure you are not missed.
Also, if you spot any events or races that are upcoming , please post details here and/or message me do I can put in newsletter. I'm not up-to-date with everything that's going on so I need YOUR assistance as much as possible.
This year our athletes have earned 77 AAA awards, a huge increase on last year! This is testament to all your hard work. To find out more about the AAA scheme and badges, check out the link further below.
We have a supply of AAA Badges and Certificates. Find out more about the scheme and the standards HERE

If you have achieved a standard (must be a legal performance on power of 10), you are entitled to a badge. Athletes will receive their first badge FREE. Thereafter, they cost £4.50 each, contact Dan if you wish to purchase one.
Athletics can only run thanks to the support of volunteers. One thing we are desperately short of is FIELD OFFICIALS. These are volunteers who can help run field events at T&F comps, in particular the NEYDL. As a participating club, we are required by the rules to provided qualified officials at NEYDL events, something we have struggled to do last year. This year, if we are unable to fulfill our obligation to provide officials, we will not only lose points, but also we will be limited in the numbers of athletes we can enter into field events. This is something that we cannot allow to happen.

If you wish to consider starting on the officiating  journey, then please know that you will have the full support of the club and all fees will be paid in full by the club. Officials receive expenses, and have opportunities to progress if the ambition is there. Officials from Blyth have recently been in action at World-Class Diamond League events, and will testify that it is the most rewarding experience.
