News from Parkruns and the Prefurb classic!
During the week Lauren and Caitlin Creaby travelled down to Darlington for the "Pre-furb" classic, the last comp before the track gets its much needed new surface. Both girls were superb - Caitlin won her 100 heat and was the fastest overall in her age group, whilst Lauren was fastest female overall across all the age groups in the 800m. Brilliant from the girls!

On Sunday, Niamh Adams made her debut at the South Beach Junior parkrun, recording an excellent time of 8:35 to take 1st place. At the Whitley Bay junior parkrun Elliot Summers took 22nd place with a fine run, with Liliana recording a time of 8:57 to take 12th place. On Saturday, Daniel and William hall headed south to Whitley Bay for the 5km parkrun, with both boys producing really strong runs once again.

On Friday, Lauren Creaby was winner Radio Tyneside's Sportsweek "Performance of the week", following her excellent performance at Gosforth the week prior.

We have a supply of AAA Badges and Certificates. Find out more about the scheme and the standards HERE

If you have achieved a standard (must be a legal performance on power of 10), you are entitled to a badge. Athletes will receive their first badge FREE. Thereafter, they cost £4.50 each, contact Dan if you wish to purchase one.
Athletics can only run thanks to the support of volunteers. One thing we are desperately short of is FIELD OFFICIALS. These are volunteers who can help run field events at T&F comps, in particular the NEYDL. As a participating club, we are required by the rules to provided qualified officials at NEYDL events, something we have struggled to do last year. This year, if we are unable to fulfill our obligation to provide officials, we will not only lose points, but also we will be limited in the numbers of athletes we can enter into field events. This is something that we cannot allow to happen.

If you wish to consider starting on the officiating  journey, then please know that you will have the full support of the club and all fees will be paid in full by the club. Officials receive expenses, and have opportunities to progress if the ambition is there. Officials from Blyth have recently been in action at World-Class Diamond League events, and will testify that it is the most rewarding experience.
