News from Parkrun and Durham Schools XC
This week its been all about working hard in training, and preparing for the competitions that lie ahead. Still, there were some fantatic performances to report on with Niamh Adams setting a new PB at the Blyth Links Parkrun, and finishing 2nd female overall. William and Daniel Hall also produced strong runs along the sea-front at Blyth South Beach. Meanwhile, down at Barnard Castle Hollie-Anne Sudder had her sights firmly set on a top 16 finish at the Durham Schools XC Championships, as she looked to progress to the next stage. She produced a great run to finish 22nd, just missing out on progression.

Coming up this week we have the Northumberland Schools XC Championships at Temple Park, good luck to everyone taking part!

MASSIVE PLEA FOR HELP FROM OUR PARENTS & FAMILY MEMBERS
Athletics can only run thanks to the support of volunteers. One thing we are desperately short of is FIELD OFFICIALS. These are volunteers who can help run field events at T&F comps, in particular the NEYDL. As a participating club, we are required by the rules to provided qualified officials at NEYDL events, something we have struggled to do last year. This year, if we are unable to fulfill our obligation to provide officials, we will not only lose points, but also we will be limited in the numbers of athletes we can enter into field events. This is something that we cannot allow to happen.

If you wish to consider starting on the officiating  journey, then please know that you will have the full support of the club and all fees will be paid in full by the club. Officials receive expenses, and have opportunities to progress if the ambition is there. Officials from Blyth have recently been in action at World-Class Diamond League events, and will testify that it is the most rewarding experience.
