1st Place for Lauren and exciting Friday Night Quadrathlon!
On Friday evening 12 of our young athletes had the opportunity to complete a quadrathlon alongside our friends from Wallsend Harriers - a great chance to try new events and learn more about multi-events competitions. Thanks to all who helped out - we aim to put another one on again within the next 4 weeks, possibly on the 26th August, and also maybe one in Septmber. Details to follow.

FULL RESULTS

Harry Ross showed great spring in the standing long jump, with a best of 1.85 and ran a fully committed 600m. Oliver Crossling was also superb in the field events, with a 1.9m standing long jump and huge howler throw. Jack Irving was superb accross all events, and showed great endurance in the 600m. Liliana had a fantastic day, producing a fine final attempt in the long jump and she produced a 2:16 600m. India Gorvett was top scoring girl in her age group, with her 1.97m standing long jump being a stand-out moment. Cornelius Wilson was a guest for Blyth - and what top scoring boy in age group after a great series.

Safia Diallo took part in her first competition, and was fantastic. with a great series of performances across all events. Aman Sanghera produced a fantastic howler throw in excess of 25m, backed up by strong performances in other events. Caitlin Creaby was supreme in all events, and broke the 400 point barrier to top her age group.

Three of our older multi-eventers took the chance for event practice (and some fun!). Hollie-Anne was top scorer overall, with a massive 36m howler throw being a highlight. Isla Bell was 2nd highest scorer, with a 6 second PB in the 800m being a great result. Senna Gorvett didn't take part in the 100m, but executed her goals in the 800m and long jump to make the competition more than worthwhile.

On Sunday, Lauren took part in the junior race at the Gosforth Relays. She was brilliant - and took first place in her age group and was fastest female accross all age groups over the 1 mile distance. Lauren's brilliant summer continues!

Accross the weekend in our local parkruns the Gormley brothers recorded a 1-2 finish at South Beach, whilst Niamh was at the sharp end again at the Blyth Links event. At whitley bay, Liliana, Sophie and Jack all produced strong runs to finish in the top 50.

MASSIVE PLEA FOR HELP FROM OUR PARENTS & FAMILY MEMBERS
Athletics can only run thanks to the support of volunteers. One thing we are desperately short of is FIELD OFFICIALS. These are volunteers who can help run field events at T&F comps, in particular the NEYDL. As a participating club, we are required by the rules to provided qualified officials at NEYDL events, something we have struggled to do last year. This year, if we are unable to fulfill our obligation to provide officials, we will not only lose points, but also we will be limited in the numbers of athletes we can enter into field events. This is something that we cannot allow to happen.

If you wish to consider starting on the officiating  journey, then please know that you will have the full support of the club and all fees will be paid in full by the club. Officials receive expenses, and have opportunities to progress if the ambition is there. Officials from Blyth have recently been in action at World-Class Diamond League events, and will testify that it is the most rewarding experience.
