Thank you to E4TheFuture for selecting Veteran LED founder Chris Rawlings to highlight for its Faces of EE Twitter campaign — especially during the week marking Veterans Day. We appreciate what you do to further energy efficiency.

Office Overhaul
Tenants and their guests see a huge difference as soon as they step into the soaring foyer at 8100 Three Chopt Road. We enjoyed retrofitting the entire office building in Henrico County for a special client of ours, Colliers International.
Light quality and levels have increased for all the tenants, creating a more productive and inviting space in which to work and greet customers. On top of it all, the building owner will save $39,000 a year in energy costs.

5 Power Moves
  1. FARMING WITH PHOTONS: Check out these farms of the future, featured in the Washington Post: “In agricultural applications, LED lights are used in ways that seem to border on alchemy, changing how plants grow, when they flower, how they taste and even their levels of vitamins and antioxidants. The lights can also prolong their shelf life.”
  2. BIPARTISAN VIBES: We just finished a rough campaign season. But as one professor notes, energy efficiency has the power to unite: “If there are ideas that appeal to both conservatives and liberals, one certainly is that efficiency is good. How could anybody oppose getting more bang for a buck, more miles per gallon, or more light per kilowatt-hour?”
  3. OFF THE GRID: Companies are paying more attention to energy efficiency and smart building technology, according to the 2018 Energy Efficiency Indicator Survey by Johnson Controls. One stat: 54 percent of U.S. organizations are extremely or very likely to have a facility that operates off the grid in the next 10 years. You can read the full report.
  4. MERRY AND BRIGHT: In Veteran LED’s backyard, we’re looking forward to downtown lighting up for the Grand Illumination this Friday night. This is definitely the season for extra sparkle — and retailers across the country are relying on LED for it to save money and improve the shopping experience for their customers.
  5. ENERGY LEADERSHIP: We had a great time with our friends and colleagues at the 2018 Virginia Energy Efficiency Leadership Awards, held Nov. 14 at the University of Richmond. Here’s a recap of the awards luncheon and a list of winners. Congratulations to all the recipients! Just know ... we’re coming for ya.
