Let’s Chat – SRS Early Offers
Wednesday 7 September 2022, 6:00 pm
While the ATAR is still the main selection tool used by most unis, there are other ways for you to show that you’re ready to succeed at uni. Many institutions have one or more early offer schemes for Year 12 students. Through these schemes, institutions assess you using criteria other than (or in addition to) your ATAR.
We’ll give you an overview of the Schools Recommendation Scheme (SRS) and discuss:
- how to apply
- whether you’re guaranteed early entry if you apply
- other universities’ direct early entry schemes
- how many early entry schemes you can apply for.

We're here to help your students get ahead of the pack with a guaranteed Early Entry offer from UNE.
We know Year 12 students have had a challenging couple of years. Our Early Entry program has helped thousands of students secure an early guarantee of a university place based on their School’s recommendation rather than an ATAR. UNE courses can be studied online or on campus, part time or full time.
Benefits of applying for Early Entry
- It’s free and easy for students to apply
- Students will get an offer of a place before they get their final results
- Get an offer with or without an ATAR
No UAC application required – but it’s fine to have both.
Key Dates
- Friday 23 September — Early Entry applications close for students
- Wednesday 12 October — Your School Assessments of students are due
- Monday 7 November — Early Entry offer letters released for students

The ACT Parks and Conservation Service is able to accommodate a limited number of work experience placements at its various depots and districts in and around Canberra. Placements are offered to high school students in years 10, 11 or 12 and to CIT students doing a relevant CIT diploma with a course requirement.
Students will generally work across most areas available at a district to gain a better understanding of the work and skills required for each position. Work areas include:
- visitor services
- ranger on-ground work
- wildlife
- forestry
Placements are usually for one week. Opportunities depend on the availability of management and staff to supervise and support a work experience student.
Please note: No placements are accepted during the fire season – generally 1 October to 31 March. This time period may be extended depending on conditions at the time.
