Major Key Alert: Lyft now has scooters. Bless up.
We read the fine print because you didn't.

Good evening squad,

I've recently discovered the usefulness of my oven and endeavored to experiment with new recipes. Please enjoy this Southwestern Casserole that is excellently cheesy.

Here's some stuff worth reading this week:

The Habanero (Weekly Roundup)

A judge blocked the online release of blueprints for 3-D guns, hours before they were supposed to be released. Cody Wilson - self-proclaimed crypto-anarchist - appeared to be in the clear last month when the State Department abruptly reversed a policy that had previously made publishing the blueprints illegal. The Seattle-based judge granted a temporary nationwide injunction citing "a likelihood of irreparable harm." Link

The Trump Administration and the E.U. came to an agreement over the weekend to reconsider elements of the growing trade war between the U.S. and Europe. The U.S. will forgo tariffs on imported automobiles such as BMW and Chrysler and in return, the E.U. has promised to increase their purchases of U.S. soybeans and natural gas. No word on a timeline. Link

The Treasury Department is considering policy that would change the definition of "cost" for calculating capital gains, allowing taxpayers to adjust the initial value of an asset to adjust for inflation. For example, if a high earner bought stock at $100,000 in 1980 and sold it for $1M today, she would be taxed on the $900,000 gain. But if her original purchase is adjusted for inflation, it comes out to $300,00 and shes only taxed on a $700,000 gain. Independent analysis suggests nearly two thirds of the benefits would go to the top 0.1 percent. Link

In a personal shoutout, Optoro - the startup I recently joined - just announced a new $75 million round of funding. The company aims to reduce waste in commerce by redirecting excess inventory away from landfills and into alternative sales and remarketing channels. This latest round of funding brings the company's total just north of $200 million. Link

A look at the next generation of Republicans. Many of them are annoyed by Trump but accept him as a conduit to their political goals. The biggest influence among them? 34-year-old conservative political commentator, Ben Shapiro. Link
