Historic Win in-and for-Blount County

On August 2nd, Jackie Hill won a historic victory when she became the first African-American woman to win a seat on the Blount County Commission.  Jackie will assume seat A from District 1 at the end of August.  Her breadth and depth of national and international executive experience and broad range of community service activities will be a great asset to the Commission and all County residents.

Congratulations Jackie Hill!

Democrat Candidates Run Competitive Campaigns

Our deep expression of gratitude and appreciation goes out to Tanya Martin, April White, Jeff Barbra, Ginny West Case and Kathy Puckett.  They proved that Democrats can compete in Blount county on platforms that focus on inclusion, transparency, open government and a love of the beauty of East Tennessee.  They “Stood Up” for our county, our state and our democracy.  Their campaigns generated an incredible amount of enthusiasm and participation!

To November and Beyond

Democrats have an outstanding group of candidates for the November General Election:
  • Jay Clark, our next State Representative from TN House District 8;
  • Susan Sneed our next State Representative from TN House District 20;
  • J.Nathan Higdon, write-in candidate for TN Senate District 2;
  • Karl Dean, our next TN Governor;
  • Renee Hoyos, our next (and first) Congresswoman from US House District 2
  • Phil Bredesen our next US Senator.

Let’s make this a reality through contributions of effort, time and money to the respective campaigns.

PS:  The BCDP needs your support of effort, time and money as well so we can expand our candidate support and be a bigger and better force for good in the community.

BCDP Office is Open Daily

11am to 6:30pm
Located at the traffic circle on East Broadway next to Southland Books & Cafe.  It's also a Bredesen Campaign Office.  Stop by and talk to David Clifford, Field Organizer for the Bredesen Campaign.

We have flyers, signs, t-shirts and buttons for all the campaigns.

Annual Celebration Dinner

The BCDP will hold a celebration dinner on October 6 at Alcoa High School.  We are extremely pleased to announce that Mr. John G. Stewart (not the comedian) will keynote.  Mr. Stewart is an author and life long Democrat.  He was a senior staffer to Hubert Humphrey and Communications Director for the DNC.  It was a break in at Mr. Stewarts office that opened the Watergate investigation that eventually led to the resignation of President Richard Nixon.  Stay tuned for more details.  Tickets will go on sale shortly.
