BLOUNT DEMOCRATS ELECT NEW LEADERSHIP
 
The Blount County Democrats elected new officers and district representatives at is biennial convention on March 31, 2019.  The convention was held at the Bird and the Book, lower level of Southland Books in Maryville, TN.  All were elected for two-year terms.
 
Elected officers are:

Sarah Herron, Chair
Nathan Higdon,  1st Vice-Chair
Patti Young, 2nd Vice-Chair
Mary Lynn Snyder, Treasurer
Marte Lawrence, Secretary
 
The following were elected as District Representatives.  The districts correspond to the Blount County Commission districts.
 
District 1 - Dorothy Kincaid, Ed McDaniel
District 2 - Dan McCord, Judy Lovely
District 3 - Bob Effler, Sue Hanye
District 4 - Jeff Barbra, Dan Dulik, Mary Lynn Snyder
District 5 - Alan Coulter, Peggy Jackson
District 6 - David Clifford, Linda Gentry
District 7 - Jimmy Long
District 8 - Robert Wilson, Sue DuBois
District 9 -  Brent Dotson, Fran Bunse
District 10 - Terry Morgan, Jack Goodwin
 
The first regular meeting of the newly elected Executive Committee will be held April 11, 2019 starting at 6:30 PM at the Martin Luther King Jr. Center in Alcoa, TN.

BCDP Attends Election Commission Meetings

Members of the BCDP Executive Committee continue to attend monthly Blount County Election Commission meetings to monitor the status of voting machines and voting centers.  See this March 27 story in The Daily TimesBlount County Democrats stress 'voting center' concerns at election meeting, which highlights concerns about a lack of transparency in the selection of voting centers and the need for a paper ballot backup.

Thursday, April 11, 6:30-8:00 PM - The  BCDP Executive Committee meets on the second Thursday of every month at the MLK Center in Alcoa. These meeting are open for anyone interested in connecting with Blount County Democrats.
March 21, 5:30 PM Tim Burchett Town Hall, Loudon County Courthouse Annex.

Friday, May 3, 4-7 pm - First Friday Progressive Meetup - The Bird and The Book, 1509 E Broadway Ave, Maryville, TN 37804, USA. Monthly meet-up with other progressives first Friday of the month @ The Bird & The Book 4-7 pm! It's also a Postcard Meet-Up at the same time and place! Drop by, socialize and play with other like minded folks!
