As Democrats it is important that we state our values and stand up for them.  When necessary we march, we write and call elected and appointed officials, we participate in meetings and we work with others to achieve common goals for the good of all.  Most importantly we vote. 

Please show your support by voting in the primary for the Democratic candidates who have shown the courage and fortitude to run for the Blount County Commission.  Also, please take a look at what we are standing up for by reading our PLATFORM.  It is posted right near the top of our website -

Thursday, April 26, is the last day for Early Voting in the May Primary.  Tuesday, May 1, is Election Day for the County Primary.

The Maryville College Democrats hosted a Democratic Candidates Forum on March 26. Each of the candidates spoke about a wide range of issues affecting Blount County and fielded questions from the audience.  Let's get to work and get these folks elected:

County Commissioner Candidates Hit the Campaign Trail Running ... and Biking!

Democrats are on the ballot for Blount County Commissioner in Districts 1,3,4,5,and 8. Look for many opportunities to get to know the candidate for your district over this summer.  We'll be phone-banking and canvassing to GOTV.  August 2 is an important date to remember - County General Election Day - it's the day you can cast a vote to elect a Democratic County Commissioner if you live in District 1,3,4,5,or 8.  It's also the primaries for State and Federal elections.  If you are not sure which County Commission District you are in, check this map.

District 8 County Commissioner Candidate, Kathy Puckett has a lot of ground to cover to meet local voters in her rural district so she's hitting the campaign trail on a bike.  She'll also be speaking at the Townsend Foothills Kiwanis Club on Wednesday, April 25, about her mission trip to Honduras.  Guests are welcome.  The Townsend Foothills Kiwanis Club meets at the Highland Manor Inn Conference Center, 7766 East Lamar Alexander Pkwy from noon to 1 PM.  For more information about her campaign, visit her website:  

Let's turn the Tennessee State House Blue!  

Connect with candidates through their websites and social media, host meet and greet house parties, donate time and money, phone-bank and canvass.  Volunteer to help on a specific candidate's campaign or volunteer with the BCDP.

Susan Sneed spoke to local Democrats about her candidacy for Tennessee State House District 20 at the April BCDP Executive Committee meeting.  She emphasized how important the work and energy of volunteers are in getting candidates elected.  You can show your support for Susan by following her on Facebook at Susan Sneed for TN House District 20.  Message her on Facebook  with your ideas, thoughts and concerns or via email at  

Jay Clark is running for Tennessee House District 8.  The Jay Clark for TN campaign is ramping up house parties and meet and greet opportunities. Thursday, April 26 , 7-9 PMMaryville Huddle - Healthcare for All.  Featured speakers are from the TN Health Care Campaign(THCC). Walter Davis, former Executive Director of THCC, will share his insights utilizing healthcare services in five different countries. Andrew Bennett, a long-time volunteer with THCC and an independent insurance agent,will help us understand the differences between universal healthcare, Medicare 4 All, and other national initiatives to improve healthcare. Current TN initiatives regarding Medicaid Expansion and Opioid abuse will be examined,including gubernatorial candidate positions and suggested questions for candidates.The public is welcome. Blount County Public Library. 

Thursday, May 10, 6:30-8:00 PM - Attend the next meeting of the BCDP Executive Committee.  These meeting are open for anyone interested in connecting with Blount County Democrats. MLK Center, Alcoa.
