Local educators honored
with awards named for
Barbara Sexton Smith
For Barbara Sexton Smith, former CEO and President at Fund for the Arts, we're all in this together, and that means ensuring accessible arts experiences for every person, beginning in childhood. Fund for the Arts recently partnered with Baird Excellence Awards and Jefferson County Public Schools to offer two annual awards named for Sexton Smith, celebrating her legacy in arts and education.
Last month Fund for the Arts presented a Local Performance Village at St. James Court Art Show. More than 200,000 people came through the show over three days and were treated to 17 performances from local performing arts organizations like Louisville Orchestra, Actors Theatre of Louisville, Keen Dance Theatre, Redline Performing Arts, Louisville Folk School, and more.
Arts in Neighborhoods are celebrations of the art that exists in our communities every day and they occur in all the places that we live, work, and gather.
