As you can see from the above picture, it is not just the young people that are having fun this summer with Sussex Clubs for Young People. We have been busy holding events for young people across Sussex and you can see further down in the newsletter the fun they have been having.  Summer isn't over yet, we still have a number of events to do including Streetmate and the Purple Bus activities.

About this Event

The HSE requires at least six training contact hours for these first aid courses. On successful completion of this course, you will receive an emergency first aid at work certificate which is valid for three years. To read more and to book your place, please click here.

YOUNG LEADERS TRAINING - EAST SUSSEX
Venue:   PGL Windmill Hill, East Sussex BN27 4RZ
Date:     19th to 20th October 2019

This is a subsidised event suitable for young people with leadership experience, training and will enable 14 to 19 year olds to enhance their leadership skills and develop their involvement in their groups/clubs. INTRODUCTION TO YOUTH WORK - EAST SUSSEX
LEVEL 1 - 2 DAY COURSE










 
Venue:    YMCA YAC Eastbourne, 56-58 Seaside, East Sussex BN22 7QL
Dates:     5th October and 9th November
                You must attend both days to complete this course

Time:       09.15 to 15.30pm

With the support of Simon Stanley we have developed a 2 part Introduction to Youth Work course which is informative, engaging and designed to help workers begin to think about youth work approaches and the basics around delivering sessions to young people.

INTRODUCTION TO YOUTH WORK - WEST SUSSEX
LEVEL 1 - 2 DAY COURSE


Venue:    The Forest Youth Wing at Forest School, Comptons Lane, Horsham RH13 5NT
Dates:     19th October and 16th November
                You must attend both days to complete this course

SPACES FILLING FAST! SPECIAL OFFER ON ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS

Do you want to recognise your young people for the great work they are doing? The UK Youth Achievement Awards might be the answer you are looking for. We have got 200 spaces available to our membership groups to do either a Challenge Award (10 hours) or a Bronze Award (30 hours) by the end of 2019 for ONLY £10 per young person.

60% of our spaces have already gone so don’t miss out by emailing member.services@sussexcyp.org.uk to register your interest and let us know how many places you’d provisionally like.

Please don’t let money be a worry as we know that sometimes funding is hard to come by, if you would like to take part but think that you may struggle to fund this just get in touch and we can support you. If you are not a member then feel free to join us, membership is free.

In our experience you need a couple of months minimum to deliver these awards effectively so the sooner you get in touch the sooner we can start you off with supporting your young people. To read more on UK Youth Achievement Awards please click here.

BENTSWOOD FUN DAY
13th August 2019
Thank you to all the young people who came along to Sussex Clubs for Young People Bentswood Fun Day yesterday and made it a great success.  We hope that you all had fun taking part in the activities throughout the afternoon, made new friends and just enjoyed your time there. STEYNING DOWNLAND SCHEME
13th August 2019
 

There is always so much to do and see at Sussex Clubs for Young People Steyning Downland Scheme that was held on Tuesday 13th August.  Although the weather was cold and a little on the damp side, it didn’t stop the young people having fun and taking part in the activities.  We will be doing it all again soon, check out our website for dates. SEEKING TRUSTEES WHO WANT A BETTER FUTURE FOR
YOUNG PEOPLE
Sussex Clubs for Young People has supported grass roots voluntary and community sector youth clubs for 80 years, starting as the county association for boys 'and girls' clubs in 1939.

We are transforming into a social enterprise to manage and provide Youth and Community Workers who will engage and involve young people in a range of clubs that benefit their local community. Through positive activities with a strong focus on health and well-being we want to create safe places where young people can enjoy learning and taking part. We want every young person to build their self-esteem and resilience with a range of opportunities to achieve awards and recognition that are valued in their communities.

Sussex Clubs for Young People are looking for new trustees with strong business backgrounds who can work with our teams of Youth and Community Workers to develop the business side of the social enterprise. We ideally need a Finance Trustee with accountancy experience, HR Trustee to support our growing staff team and a Marketing Trustee to challenge us to do better at promoting our work and the impact we have on young people.

There are excellent opportunities to shape a charity turning social enterprise, with a time commitment of only 1-2 days per month for the next three years.

How to get involved
 
Event and activity sponsorship
We would welcome opportunities to work with businesses and partner organisations through sponsorship of our events or the work that we do. We have a range of clubs across East and West Sussex who would value your support financially, through volunteering and pro-bono professional advice.
 
Staff volunteering
There are plenty of opportunities for your staff to get involved with practical projects at our youth clubs, decorating, DIY projects, gardening, etc.
Join our board – we are always looking for people with business expertise to strengthen our Board of Trustees
Donating – any donation you can give means we’re able to continue to support youth clubs to thrive.
The difference your money could make
  • £30 would pay for a young person to try a new sports activity
  • £45 would enable a young person to take part in our Young Leaders residential training weekend
  • £120 would pay for a qualified instructor to run a much needed sports or arts activity at a youth club
  • £250 would go a long way in helping us continue to run our core activity programme.

Children and Young People’s Network (Adur & Worthing) 01 October 2019

Our children and young people network brings together voluntary and community organisations working with children and young people. It’s a great way to stay up to date with changes to and developments in children and young peoples services and plans, as well as to network with other organisations in the area.

This session will be focusing on FGM and it’s impact on the local area, and we will be hearing from Christabel Yeboah from Rape Crisis Surrey and Sussex

Experienced, enthusiastic group worker wanted to join our busy LGBTQ Mental Health Service. You will need experience of mental health, working with suicidal distress, service user participation and volunteers.

You need to be available on Thursdays 12 noon – 7.30pm.
