Young Leaders Training
SCYP Summer Camp
This is a subsidised event for Young People with some leadership experience, training and potential. For 14-19 years old to enhance their leadership skills and develop their involvement in their groups/clubs. Certificated course level 1 or 2. All food, accommodation and activities are included. Introduction to Youth work Training
SCYP Youth Club Forums
With the support of Simon Stanley, we have developed a 2 part Introduction to Youth Work course which is informative, engaging and designed to help workers begin to think about youth work approaches and the basics around delivering sessions to young people. This is a great opportunity to explore Youth Work practice in two interactive sessions. Our youth club forums will give you the opportunity to meet others working in a youth environment, where you can discuss any issues you may be experiencing or topics that you would like to cover, together with any ideas you may have, skill sharing and how to develop best practice. All forums are 6pm to 8pm. Next meeting is on 18th February 2020 at Billingshurst Community and Conference Centre, Roman Way, Billingshurst RH14 9QW. 6pm to 8pm.

Emergency First Aid at Work Training

Is your youth club in the Adur area? If so, you could apply for funding Youth Projects
If your Youth Club is in the Adur area, you could apply for funding to help improve the community to the benefit of young people through youth groups in Adur.

What would you do with £10,000?
Adur and Worthing Youth Council are giving out funds to youth groups in the Adur area to support their project in the community, to apply send in a video entry about what you would do with up to £1,000 and how this would benefit the young people in Adur. All entries will be reviewed, and a decision made who will be awarded funds for their project. To find out how to enter and to read the rules for entry, please click here.  

Train your young people to save lives with our Emergency First Aid at Work courses

Our instructors are able to offer different levels of First Aid training from Emergency First Aid at Work to Appointed Person training.

For fully certificated Emergency First Aid at Work courses the cost is £35 per person for up to 12 people per course. Courses can be held at a venue of your choice. If you would like to find out more, please call us on 01273 443563 and we will do the rest.

SCYP Safeguarding Young People

Safeguarding children and young people is everyone’s responsibility and Sussex Clubs for Young People take their role in supporting our members and partners seriously.

In West Sussex we chair the VCS Safeguarding Forum and in East Sussex the Youth Infrastructure Forum to help coordinate and discuss how voluntary and community sector organisations with partners in local authorities, the NHS and Police.

As part of this multi-agency approach we are able to provide our members with access to online DBS Checks and we are currently developing an offer to visit clubs and provide Introduction to Safeguarding training.

We are looking for passionate, enthusiastic, entrepreneurial, young people and community focused team players who can help us to develop universal open-access youth provision. Based in Arun/Chichester area for 10 or 15 hours a week (dependent on candidates) you will show an enthusiasm for working with volunteers and partners to build an effective service.

Working with partners, volunteers and others you will develop and deliver regular weekly youth clubs to create positive informal, educational and recreational activities chosen by and developed with young people aged 9 to 19 (or to 25 with special educational needs) rooted in their community that are safe, fun, welcoming and engaging.

Sussex Clubs for Young People provides youth clubs and the Purple Bus across the Horsham District providing positive, engaging and fun activities for young people, working alongside the Parish Councils and local people to provide a much loved and valued service for the community.

We respond to the challenges of delivering
meaningful youth work and we constantly strive to provide fresh, fun and rewarding activities for the young people and when needed signpost to their professionals and support.
We also offer support to other local youth organisations who are members of SCYP, SCYP do not charge an annual membership fee, so even small or start-up clubs can access our benefits which allows us to reach as many groups as possible.

We are looking for new trustees with strong business backgrounds who can work with our teams of Youth and Community Workers to develop the business side of the social enterprise. We ideally need a Finance Trustee with accountancy experience, HR Trustee to support our growing staff team and a Marketing Trustee to challenge us to do better at promoting our work and the impact we have on young people.

There are excellent opportunities to shape a charity turning social enterprise, with a time commitment of only 1-2 days per month for the next three years.

The NYA Youth Worker Bursary Fund  is a national initiative to open up career pathways in youth work.  In its first year the fund will widen access and secure you work training with up to 450 bursaries (Levels 2 and 3) working though the NYA's regional partners across England. 

The purpose of the Youth Worker Bursary Fund is to provide financial assistance to those undertaking approved qualifications in Youth Work, by providing funded places to those individuals who would otherwise experience financial difficulties in accessing Youth Worker qualifications. One Day YGAM Workshop
Crawley & Horsham Apprenticeship Fairs

The one day YGAM workshop is for teachers, tutors, youth workers, mental health specialists and anyone else who comes into contact with young or vulnerable people. 
The aim of the workshops is to equip professionals with the skills, knowledge and educational resources to enable them to deliver the YGAM programme to young or vulnerable people. 

The aim of the workshop is to:
  1. increase your knowledge and understanding of gaming and gambling related harm in the UK
  2. Provide you with resources to deliver to young people
  3. take time to familiarise yourself with the YGAM  programme, curriculum and resources
The workshop takes place on Friday 20th March from 10am to 2pm in Worthing. 
Please arrive at 9.30am for coffee for a prompt start at 10am. Refreshments provided (lunch not included).
Come along to the West Sussex apprenticeship Fairs being held in Crawley and Horsham this month.
