Summer Camp
5th to 7th July 2019 - East Grinstead

Our annual Summer Camp this year took place on 6th and 7th July at Blackland Farm, which is nestled in the beautiful countryside of East Grinstead.  The event was for children from the ages of 11 to 16, where they could enjoy the great outdoors, getting involved in a wide range of activities, including kayaking, swimming, bush craft, camp fire, sports, whilst learning about teamwork and simply enjoying their time at camp. We definitely achieved this with everyone having a great time.
For Summer Camp 2020, we would like to involve more groups and young people in the running of the camp. If you can organise activities, help with the cooking, or the pre-planning of the camp, then we would like to hear from you.  If you would like to bring your group next year, please let us know.

Young Leaders Training

Sussex Clubs for Young People deliver UK Youth Achievement Awards (UKYAA) to our members and the young people they work with between the ages of 9 and 25. These awards enable young people to choose a challenge to work on as a group, setting targets that are suited to their own ability and understanding rather than a standardised marking scheme which makes them accessible to all young people’s needs. They champion a youth-led framework which can be applied to almost any activity using a plan, do and review method involving a variety of learning methods.

We offer a wide range of services to help your club promote a safe and fun environment, these are: To find out more about each of the above, please click on the appropriate link.
Sussex Clubs for Young People has supported grass roots voluntary and community sector youth clubs for 80 years, starting as the county association for boys 'and girls' clubs in 1939.

We are transforming into a social enterprise to manage and provide Youth and Community Workers who will engage and involve young people in a range of clubs that benefit their local community. Through positive activities with a strong focus on health and well-being we want to create safe places where young people can enjoy learning and taking part. We want every young person to build their self-esteem and resilience with a range of opportunities to achieve awards and recognition that are valued in their communities.

Sussex Clubs for Young People are looking for new trustees with strong business backgrounds who can work with our teams of Youth and Community Workers to develop the business side of the social enterprise. We ideally need a Finance Trustee with accountancy experience, HR Trustee to support our growing staff team and a Marketing Trustee to challenge us to do better at promoting our work and the impact we have on young people.

There are excellent opportunities to shape a charity turning social enterprise, with a time commitment of only 1-2 days per month for the next three years.

Donating – any donation you can give means we’re able to continue to support youth clubs to thrive.
The difference your money could make

Grant Information

WSCC Micro Fund

Introduced in June 2019, the Micro Fund enables groups to apply directly to the County Council for a grant of no more than £750 towards their total project costs. Similar to the former Small Grants Fund, the process provides an alternative to the crowdfunding approach aimed at attracting community backing. Groups are encouraged to first enquire before submitting an application in order to learn when their bid may be considered at the earliest available County Local Committee (CLC) meeting. Applications will be formally considered by CLCs three times per year and funding decisions will be taken alongside crowdfunding pitches. For details of application deadlines and, if necessary, support with the process, please contact me using the email address To download an application form from our website, please click on this link.
