SCYP Summer Camp 2020
Our annual and popular Summer Camp for members of Sussex Clubs for Young People is planned to take place on 10th-12th July at Blacklands Farm. We want to keep the price to a very attractive £45 pp including all activities, accommodation and food. Adults supporting young people and not taking part in activities will cost £15 as a contribution towards food and accommodation.

We want to involve more groups and young people in the running of this camp. Perhaps you can help by offering your skills while in the camp either as an instructor of outdoor activities if you are qualified (e.g archery, canoeing, climbing, abseiling), help with cooking during the camp, organise games (e.g Wide Games, Man Hunt etc) or in the pre-planning of the camp.

If you would like to bring your group or if you have any ideas about how we can make this the best Summer Camp ever, we would love to hear from you.

The tickets for Summer Camp will sell out quick, so be sure to book your tickets in advance by clicking here.

Safeguarding children and young people is everyone’s responsibility and Sussex Clubs for Young People take our role in supporting our members and partners seriously.

In West Sussex we chair the VCS Safeguarding Forum and in East Sussex the Youth Infrastructure Forum to help coordinate and discuss how voluntary and community sector organisations with partners in local authorities, the NHS and Police.

As part of this multi-agency approach we are able to provide our members with access to online DBS Checks and we are currently developing an offer to visit clubs and provide Introduction to Safeguarding training.

YMCA - Shape My Future
YMCA DLG is currently consulting children and young people across our localities (East Sussex, Brighton & Hove, West Sussex, Surrey) to hear about their hopes for their futures and the issues that affect their lives or are of concern to them. They are undertaking street surveys, an online survey and focus groups until mid-January.

‘Shape My Future’ findings will help inform our YMCA DLG 2025 vision strategy which are starting to develop; and will inform future Involvement & Influencing projects designed and delivered by children and young people, e.g. youth led campaigns.

YMCA DLG are keen to hear not just from children and young people who access YMCA services or live with them, but also children and young people in our communities who may have never heard of the YMCA.

A QR code and the website link are in the poster, and here is the website link:

Trustees We Need You!
We are looking for new trustees with strong business backgrounds who can work with our teams of Youth and Community Workers to develop the business side of the social enterprise. We ideally need a Finance Trustee with accountancy experience, HR Trustee to support our growing staff team and a Marketing Trustee to challenge us to do better at promoting our work and the impact we have on young people.

There are excellent opportunities to shape a charity turning social enterprise, with a time commitment of only 1-2 days per month for the next three years.
