SAFEGUARDING

SUSSEX CLUBS FOR YOUNG PEOPLE WORKS TO SAFEGUARD YOUNG PEOPLE

Safeguarding children and young people is everyone’s responsibility and Sussex Clubs for Young People take our role in supporting our members and partners seriously.

In West Sussex we chair the VCS Safeguarding Forum and in East Sussex the Youth Infrastructure Forum to help coordinate and discuss how voluntary and community sector organisations with partners in local authorities, the NHS and Police.

As part of this multi-agency approach we are able to provide our members with access to online DBS Checks and we are currently developing an offer to visit clubs and provide Introduction to Safeguarding training.

WEST SUSSEX VCS SAFEGUARDING FORUM

The West Sussex Voluntary and Community Sector Safeguarding Forum exists to support voluntary and community sector organisations in keeping children and young people safe in West Sussex.

The members are safeguarding leads from a diverse range of organisations from across the county representing a variety of services working with different groups of children, young people and families in a multitude of ways. It exists as a mechanism to keep member organisations up to date with safeguarding knowledge and processes, to disseminate information from the West Sussex Safeguarding Children Partnership (WSSCP) and to provide a collective voice to inform the WSSCB from the sector’s perspective.

The forum meets 4 times a year at locations spread across the area, usually with a relevant guest speaker, an opportunity for networking and support, and updates in knowledge. Between meetings, information from WSSCB is regularly distributed by email to the group, and requests for information/responses are sought and fed back to the WSSCB.

Next Meetings:
Monday 25th November at the Maybridge Keystone Centre, Raleigh Way, Worthing BN12 6JD
Tuesday 10th December at the Wickbourne Centre, Clun Road, Littlehampton BN17 7DZ.
