The one that is drawing to a close is a year marked by the desire for renewal for the historic Arsutoria school. In addition to the existing teaching room, a real professional laboratory dedicated exclusively to leather goods has been added and enriched with new machinery, thanks to the partnership with the company Galli SpA, leader in the production of technology for the leather goods sector. In parallel with increasing the number of sewing machines, Arsutoria - The Workshop School - has invested in the purchase of spray gluing machines, buffing machines, dyeing machines, plotters and a drying oven, to reproduce the typical professional environment of a leather goods factory while preserving the educational aspect thanks to an organised and comfortable space that encourages the students' learning. The new machines complement and complete the teaching path, which is divided in the traditional technical-manual approach and the digital approach.

The modernisation and new structural reorganisation of the leather goods courses has created six work areas: stitching, assembling, fleshing, gluing, dyeing, sanding and cleaning. The new spaces and the integration of more machinery allow students to follow and touch all the stages of the production.

Also with a view to renovation, new classrooms entirely dedicated to design courses have been inaugurated, which include digital design courses using some of the most innovative technologies on the market (CLO 3D).

"A change that began last year with the expansion of the 1-year courses, made more complete and professional thanks to the addition of a final project involving the realisation of a prototype conceived, designed and manufactured with the support and 'tutoring' of the professionals of the Arsutoria school. The student is thus guided through the entire process of creating and realising a leather accessory, from design to technical development to prototyping,' says Matteo Pasca, Director of Arsutoria.

The best projects and related prototypes, which are the result of the 1-year Advanced Training courses in technical and design of shoes and bags, have always found a place at some of the most important events and exhibitions in the sector, such as Fashion Graduate Italia, an initiative promoted by Piattaforma Sistema Formativo Moda Ente del Terzo Settore (ETS), which brings together the best Italian post-diploma training institutions and academies in the sector to celebrate the talents of tomorrow.

Once again this year, for the fifth consecutive edition, Arsutoria took part in the three-day fashion show, talk, masterclass, workshop and job placement event, held at BASE Milan in November 2022, with an exhibition area dedicated to the creativity of some of its best students.

Specifically, the models presented at Fashion Graduate Italia 2022 - Stay Curious! were born from the collaboration between the Milanese school and Design na Pele. The international project promoted by "Brazilian Leather", and born thanks to the collaboration with the Centre for the Brazilian Tanning Industry (CICB) and ApexBrasil, aims to promote the quality of Brazilian leather. To do this, it decided to rely on the technical expertise of designers trained at Arsutoria. In a first phase, managed by the Arsutoria Vision Lab trend research centre, the project involved a number of Brazilian tanneries in the development and realisation of innovative leathers subsequently used by the designers selected from Arsutoria's international alumni network to design a capsule of bags and/or shoes.

Fashion Graduate Italia 2022 - Stay Curious!, promoted thanks to the contribution of Regione Lombardia and sponsored by the Department of Labour Policies, Productive Activities, Commerce, Fashion and Design of Comune di Milano, is part of a circuit of events that succeeds in giving visibility to the students' work, helping them to connect with the sector industry, also on an international level. An objective strongly shared by Arsutoria, which, thanks to its highly professionalised training courses and its strong ties with the sector's industry, succeeds in placing itself at the side of every student, accompanying them, successfully, towards the world of work.
