Mark your calendars for 14 September 2019

The Nolan Clan will hold its 2019 Gathering Worldwide in Carlow Ireland on 14 September 2019. We hope you will join us. The schedule as it develops will be posted on our Facebook page  Clan O'Nolan Please subscribe and share the page!
Our webmaster, Roger Nowlan, recently updated our website nolanfamilies.org  If you have not visited the site recently take a look.  Roger has compiled a huge amount of information there. Read his most recent update on ancient history here: http://www.nolanfamilies.org/archives/book/early-history.pdf

We are pleased to note that the Clans of Ireland recognizes the Nolan Clan as historically verifiable in Ireland before 1847. From ancient times Irish society was organised around traditional kinship groups or clans. Despite the loss of their traditional lands and emigration, the spirit of the Irish clans remains. The first modern Irish Clans were re-formed in the latter half of the 20th century. The Nolan Clan was reformed in 1996. Today, these clans are organised in Ireland and in every continent around the world.

To all males who have the surname Nolan or any of its many spellings:

The Nolan surname DNA project needs participants from around the world and Ireland! The goals of Irish Surname Projects include: finding relatives in Ireland; verifying paternal ancestry; identifying place of origin of the family; and compiling a history of the clan and its various branches. It has been the case for years that Irish yDNA Surname Projects have attracted people from many countries. The Nolan Surname yDNA Project needs Irish-based participants to get involved as well.
You can get some information here: www.familytreedna.com/groups/nolan and you can read more about the projects here: Irish Surnames and Genetic Testing: a Developing Science
