Candidates Sought for Special Elections for Radnor Township Commissioner in Wards 1 and 7
Due to resignations of two commissioners, Special Elections in Ward 1 and Ward 7 will be held on May 15, 2018, contemporaneously with the Primary Election. These elections will determine the commissioner for each ward to serve out the remaining unexpired terms, until the election for the next full four-year term is held in November 2019. These elections are crucial also because they will determine whether the Board of Commissioners is majority Democratic or Republican.
Because the Special Election is equivalent to a General Election (with a Democrat and a Republican running against each other), each political party will appoint its candidate by a vote of the (elected and appointed) committee people serving that particular ward. In order to give the candidates sufficient time to campaign, it is our goal to complete the selection process by March 12th and to announce and introduce the candidates at our next meeting on March 13th.
Consistent with our core principles of openness and transparency, the Radnor Democratic Committee (RDC) is seeking candidates for these two offices. In order to qualify, you must be a registered Democrat in Ward 1 or Ward 7, respectively. Anyone who is interested should send a resume and a statement of 1,000 words or less on why you want to serve as a commissioner.
Please submit your resume and statement ON OR BEFORE MARCH 5, 2018, to RDC Chair George Badey at email@example.com or mail to 238 Chamounix Road, St. Davids, PA 19087. Interviews will be scheduled for the week of March 5-12. The formal deadline for appointment and filing with the Bureau of Elections is March 26, 2018.
