Dear Radnor Democratic Friends and Supporters,

There is no other place to begin this note than with my most sincere gratitude.  As I travelled around the township on Tuesday, I was struck by the extraordinary number of volunteers who were working all day at each and every polling location, including some of our current Radnor High School students and recent graduates, to support our local and county Democratic candidates.  The level of engagement so far in this campaign season - from the donors to the volunteers in all forms of support that we have had - is not only inspiring, but also instrumental in securing the very successful Primary election results we achieved yesterday.

The results on Tuesday in Radnor were extremely encouraging for us as  significantly more Democrats than Republicans turned out to vote. This has been a trend since 2017, and yearly the Democratic margins are continuing to grow.  In fact, the “blue wave” of 2017 appears not to have peaked, but rather is gaining even more momentum.  See the accompanying numbers and comparisons below.

And success breeds success.  The Delaware County Democratic Party, that includes our Radnor Democratic Committee, again fielded formidable slates of endorsed candidates up and down the ballot.  At the County level, the Democrats who were running for Judicial, District Attorney and County Council positions all scored impressive primary wins, including Radnor's own Elaine Schaefer who is a candidate for County Council.  If these candidates win election in November, they will historically and fundamentally change the composition of Delaware County leadership to Democratic for the first time in over 140 years.

And at the local Radnor level, our four endorsed Township Commissioner candidates - Jack, Damien, Moira and Sean - and five endorsed School Board candidates - Amy, Jeff, Nancy, Bradley and Liz - have all launched impressive campaigns and won their nominations in the Primary handily, thanks to all of you.  With their election in November, they will further enhance the high caliber of Radnor’s current governing bodies.

Why are these wins important? Because Radnor Democrats have demonstrated that they have the commitment and skills to govern well, and help provide a quality of life in our community for residents that is inclusive of and respectful to all.

Yet there is still much more campaigning to do and the General Election on November 5 will be here before we know it.  As we know all too well, elections can never be taken for granted.  Our candidates can take a breath for the moment, but will hit the campaign trail again very soon.  Your ongoing enthusiasm and support is critical to their success again this fall when the rubber meets the road.

So again, my most profound appreciation to one and all for the support you lent in so many ways to make Tuesday's impressive Primary wins possible.  Your involvement truly makes a difference and we hope we can count on your strong support again on November 5th.

The Radnor Democratic Committee wishes the entire community a very safe, happy, healthy and relaxing Memorial Day weekend.

Democratically yours,

George Badey
Chair, Radnor Township Democratic Committee
