                FROM THE CHAIR:
Happy summer to the Radnor Democratic community!

I hope everyone is basking in the glory of longer days and warmer temperatures to find some time to relax this summer.  With the very successful May Primary Election to some extent in our rear view mirror, I’d like to offer another acknowledgement of your dedicated and generous support of our local candidates that created tremendous momentum towards the final leg of their journeys to elected office that will culminate in the November 5th General Election.  We are counting on each and every one of you on November 5th to again bring your critical support to the polls and help us secure HISTORIC wins both in Radnor and across Delaware County.  Your engagement in the May Primary Election put our candidates on the verge of flipping our Delaware County Council government from well over a century of Republican leadership to Democratic, and installing Democratic judges in the Delaware County Court of Common Pleas for the first time EVER.  We also have a roster of Radnor School Board and Commissioner candidates who are as qualified and enthusiastic to become public servants as I’ve ever seen.  So while many of us have the luxury of a summer respite from the demands of the rest of the year, please keep in mind that in less than four months, we have a General Election to support to ensure that our local candidates take their places in offices they have been working so strenuously all year, even over the summer, to earn.

Speaking of elections, you might be aware that on Sunday, June 23rd, Delaware County’s own Joe Sestak announced his candidacy for president. Many of us have met Joe, our former Congressman, and some of us know him well.  I am one of those people, and I would like you to indulge me in some personal thoughts on his candidacy.  Some say “there are too many candidates” or that “he got in too late” but I strongly disagree. The large field – with no prohibitive favorite - is exactly why I feel Joe has a chance.  Joe is one of our own because he was born and raised in Delaware County. His academic and professional pedigrees are outstanding and you can read more about them and his campaign on his website

I feel so strongly about Joe’s candidacy because of what I believe are his unmatched qualifications and ability to not only defeat Donald Trump, but also unify the nation.  He’s served two terms in Congress, and advanced in the PA Senatorial race in 2010 against considerable odds.  As our Congressman, Joe pursued a progressive agenda and had an excellent voting record on the issues.  Even though he is a reliable progressive, Joe’s background and experience as one who has stood up to the Democratic Establishment makes him appealing to a much broader base of support than any other Democrat.

In order to qualify to participate in future debates, Joe needs tens of thousands of unique donors. You can donate as little as a dollar, but just by donating a dollar, you will help Joe qualify. If Joe is still in the running when Pennsylvania’s Primary is held next April, I think you’ll be glad you were on board early.  If he’s not still in it, then at least Joe will know that he had your support at the outset.  I thank you for your consideration.
Again, my comments about Joe Sestak are my own. The Radnor Democratic Committee has not yet endorsed any presidential candidate.

In the meantime, on to November 5th for our eminently qualified and honorable Radnor and Delaware County candidates!  Stay tuned for much more Radnor General Election information to come.

Democratically yours,

George Badey
