Sail Nelson proudly sponsored a U10 girls youth soccer team this year! I am very happy to support the Nelson Soccer Association as often as I can as they provide so much to our community. Great job Sail Nelson team! See you next season!
Canada Day Celebrations
Once again this year Sail Nelson participated in the Canada Day festivities at Lakeside Park! With over 200 people visiting our tent, it was great to see so many people out enjoying Lakeside Park. Next year I will be adding games and prizes so be sure to visit our tent!
Youth Water Festival
The Friends of Kootenay Lake invited Sail Nelson to participate in their first ever Youth Water Festival. It was such a great time and I had the opportunity to teach over 200 youth from around Nelson about water safety, cold water shock and emergency signals. Looking forward to next year's festival.
Donations & Sponsorships
Sail Nelson provided a number of donations valued at over $1,200. These donations were provided to the Chamber of Commerce Gala, Touchstones Museum Gala, The Dance Educator's Showcase and Nelson Rotary Paint Night.
I am always looking for ways to improve my teaching and to offer more courses for Sail Nelson. This summer I helped Sail Canada with the Spinnaker Standard as well as some French translations for the student logbooks. Next summer I plan to add the Intermediate Cruising and Coastal Navigation courses. Stay tunned!
Of course, one of the personal highlights of this season was my Vic-Maui Yacht Race boat delivery on Turnagain! I sailed across the Pacific Ocean with 7 other people and had a blast. I have been working away on my blog posts to share my adventure with you so feel free to follow along at sailnelson.com.
Dont forget to join us on November 3 from 2 pm to 5 pm at Torchlight Brewing for our Cheers to Buccaneers event! Family and friends welcome!
