News for juniors

Welcome to the April edition of our newsletter, which will keep you up-to-date with all the latest local events suitable for juniors. We want to spread news of chess events for juniors in the region, so feel free to forward to friends and family to subscribe. And let us know if you want to promote an event!

Nottinghamshire Megafinal

Date: Saturday 5th May 2018
Venue: Nottingham High School
Format: 6-round rapidplay

The annual second stage of the Delancey UK Chess Challenge, the largest junior competition in the UK. If you are Under 11 you need to have qualified via your school, club or 'last chance saloon'. But for over-12s or older you can enter directly at the UK Chess Challenge website. Prizes for all age-groups from U7 to U18, for both boys and girls. Participants can qualify for the Gigafinal in July.

Our next event is the Nottingham Congress, 21st and 22nd April 2018, again at Nottingham High School. Sections for all levels, 5 ECF graded standardplay games

East Midlands Chess Academy Junior Grand Prix

Round 7: Friday April 20th; Round 8: Friday April 27th
Venue: Bramcote Methodist Church Hall, Chapel Lane, Bramcote
Times: 7.00pm-9.00pm.
Ages: U14s, U12s, U10s and U8s sections.
Entry fee - £10.00 per session.

Upcoming events

British Chess Championships

Date: 27th July - 5th August 2018
Venue: Hull City Hall, Queen Victoria Square, Hull

There are various events suitable to juniors of all levels, including age-restricted tournaments from U9 up to U16, weekend and weekday tournaments with different grade restrictions, and a one-day rapidplay.

York Junior Congress
Date: Sunday 22nd April 2018
Venue: Fishergate Primary School, Escrick St, York YO10 4AP

A 6-round rapidplay for all levels of player.
